Does Josh Wood colour cover grey ?

I've been colouring my hair at home for a while with PPD ammonia free colour(Daniel Field and Tints of Nature) but these have stopped covering my grey. I have about 10 percent grey and dark hair. Has anyone used Josh Wood permanent colour and has it covered your grey ? Apparently his colour is also PPD and ammonia free so am wondering if I will have same problem.

I've been using Josh Wood for about 6/12 months now. Yes it covers grey. I started adding the colour shots but when they weren't on deal I didn't buy them (I can't see the difference....)

I'm really curious if this product is any better than my old dye - the one with Davina on the pack. Or am I just paying twice the price for the barrier cream, stain remover wipes and better gloves?

Thanks for that. I think it is probably better for your hair as it doesn't contain ammonia I've definitely noticed a difference not using ammonia. PPD is linked to health risks in some studies but its inconclusive. PPd is usually in higher concentration in dark shades and very little in lightest blonde. What shade do you use ? I've read Josh Wood come up very dark

The darker shades do come up very dark, I use ‘darkest blonde’ instead. It does cover greys but not for long. I find the grey coverage seems to last longer with the colour shots. I keep using it though (despite the grey not being covered for ages, I only have about 2% grey) as it really doesn’t damage my hair in comparison to others so I don’t mind using it more often.
The packaging, conditioner and gloves are all v good quality. I wait for Boots to have a 3 for 2 offer and stock up.

I have a tube of the Gloss Shot but not used it yet .
I need to do my dye first (I use a Superdrug Semi P) then patch test the Josh Wood .

I don't want to go down the route of permenant dye again so the JW dye isn't for me .

Josh Wood does cover grey yes, and they do also come up very dark. I also found the shade shots made a big difference.

I went too dark with Josh Wood and am now growing it out as it just isn’t budging/fading. I did root touch ups in successively lighter colours so I don’t have too much of a “step”. All the browns were too dark for me though and I’m fairly dark. I thought about trying the darkest blonde but by that time I was a bit fed up of it, there was a lot of work with the staining, shade shots and gloss touch ups.

So then I tried the Organic Colour Systems no PPD at home semi-permanent. It’s called No Limits. It comes in 10 colours.

I used the hot pink when first growing out my hair which did colour grey. It also comes in dark brown and chestnut brown.

It is semi-permanent so it will fade if you go too dark for example. I found it very easy to apply, very pleasant smelling and there was plenty in the pump bottle for multiple applications. So maybe needs applying more often but definitely less faff and staining than the permanent options. And if you’re having to recolour fairly frequently due to darkest blonde fading etc or redoing glosses it might not end up being much more often in practice. And it’s just much quicker and easier to do.

No Limits Semi Permanent

I didn't know that about the no ammonia. I don't feel so bad spending more now. I also use dark blond although I would describe my hair as brown. See picture and apologies for the hair its been under a hat all day.

@Mumdiva99 that's a pretty colour I wouldn't say that was blonde it's more a warm honey brown.
@Volvemos oh dear I know what that's like when it goes too dark! Organic colour systems are the professional line from Tints of Nature(this is what I've been using for years) I have a salon near me that uses Organic colour systems but they told me that the permanent colours need a pre treatment to take properly plus shampooing beforehand, it would take at least 2 and a half hours I couldn't face that long in salon! I'm not sure if the semi permanent would cover my grey but would be good in between permanent.

That’s funny, I’ve had Organic Colour Systems in salons many times, never needed a pre-treatment.

I've been using Josh Wood for a few months, in place of Casting as that stopped covering my greys. I started off with the dark blonde (hair naturally mid-brown but was advised by a friend they come up dark). Looked great to start with but faded too red for me (no shade shots) so switched to lightest brown which is much darker but after a few washes fades just enough that I'm now happy with it.

A few greys are starting to come back through but only right at the temples where there was slightly less dye as I was trying not to get it on my skin. Overall I'm much happier than I was with the Casting. The barrier cream, wipes, gloves are all very good and the conditioning treatment excellent.

Pic is of my hair freshly dyed with the dark blonde, before the sun got to it.
