...and it is good. Was pretty wuick and wasn't as sore as waxing or plucking. Had it done today in Selfridges for £10. It looks good too.

Trouble is not sure where else does it now I am back home.

I've wanted to try that for a while. Unfortunately, there is nowhere round here that does it.

haha
i had mine done in tooting for three quid!

Hulababy · 19/08/2007 18:10

Not sure how done exactly - just involved pieces of thread twisted over the hairs and pulled I think. Was very efficient.

Don't think I'll get it for £3 somehow. Costs me £7.50 for waxing normally, so imagine it'll be £10 most salons here. Would be more than happy to get it cheaper though!

i've been having my eyebrows waxed for years, I also have them coloured at the same time, it costs me 5.00 all in.

cylon · 19/08/2007 18:13

imagine a couple of threads twisted around each other. now imagine moving them in a scissoring motion. catching the hairs in the middle will 'pluck' them out. but you can get much smaller hairs out than with plucking, and it is gentler apparently. (i dont think so) but it is also simpler, as you can do a straight line, so easier toshape the brow. iyswim.

salons in aasian type places all do it i think.

3Ddonut · 19/08/2007 18:13

One of my collegues did that for me a few weeks ago for FREE!!!!! It was pretty painless but she took a bit too much off, mind it was about 3am!!!! I've just had them waxed from my normal lady and LOVE it.

DelGirl · 19/08/2007 18:15

I had my eyebrows threaded once, my goodness it hurt. I think i'll stick with plucking.

Dabbles · 19/08/2007 18:20

ooh, i always thought threading hurt more than waxing and plucking!

cylon · 19/08/2007 18:25

dabbles, i think it does hurt more.
but you also get used to it, so it's never again as bad a sthe first time.
i think the end result is much better than plucking or waxing

Hulababy · 19/08/2007 18:26

Definitely didn't hurt me more, no where near.

threading def hurt me more than waxing as it takes longer

looked better though and lasted longer

You lucky devil that it didn't hurt as much as waxing. I found it so painful that I was in floods of tears and kept jumping out of the chair and squealing. Of course this was in the middle of a department store cosmetics dept, not somewhere private like a salon.

Not surprisingly she found it really difficult - I think she felt like a dentist with a nervous patient or something.

Agony.

drosophila · 22/08/2007 18:25

If you live near an area with a high asian population you will find a place that does it.

RubySlippers · 23/08/2007 10:49

i love threading!
my eyebrows are fab

don't know where you live but there is a great place in North London

Anchovy · 23/08/2007 11:00

I am evangelical about eyebrow threading - love, love, love it.

10 quid in Fenwicks - best cheap beauty therapy going. Properly done, it makes you look both groomed and wide awake. (Hurts like buggery though, but we must Suffer To Be Beautiful).

MascaraOHara · 23/08/2007 11:01

I'm gutted there is nowhere local to me that does threading (thatI've found as yet) sugaring is also supposed to be great.

My brother had his eyebrows threaded in NY and said it hurt

mrsmike · 23/08/2007 12:27

Re over-plucking - Do you think you can pluck your eyebrows too much - over years and years - so that they won't ever grow back properly? I'd like to leave mine to grow back and have them properly shaped but they don't ever seem to get back to how they once were - just get straggly?

lulurose · 23/08/2007 14:10

had mine done at the Bentalls centre in Kingston...mine have stayed in good shape and are easier to pluck now. I think you can over pluck, I used to, far nicer to have a natural shape, just not too bushy and slug-like!

lulurose · 23/08/2007 14:10

threaded that is

LaCerbiatta · 23/08/2007 14:17

So do you only have them threaded once to establish a good shape? I assume you then pluck as new hairs regrow? If you wait until they've grown again to have it threaded don't you need to look 'unkept' for a few weeks? That's what I also never understood about people who have them waxed...
Explain please!

BrownSuga · 23/08/2007 14:17

i love threading, had it done in M.E. originally, gives much better shape to e/brows. haven't had it done for ages, but just booked at house of fraser. sweet
