Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has any recommendations about going grey and how it changes the House of Colour classifications.

I used to colour my hair a darkish brown and subsequently did very well with "jewel winter" colours - amethyst, emerald, sapphire, pewter with white and black etc, but now my hair is going grey and I've stopped colouring it, I notice there are blondish highlights in it, as well as bright silver.

Over all its brought out a light greenish tinge in my eyes as well, and I notice more of an olive undertone in my skin.

My questions:
Do you think I have changed into more of a "Summer"?

Has anyone else changed from a "Winter" to a "Summer" when they went naturally grey?

And if so, what colours suit best, considering I don't want a completely new wardrobe?
How do I change from one to the other, so I don't look to washed out?
Do I have to incorporate pastels and the dreaded greige neutral, to tone down the brights?

TIA Style Mavens Grin

I don't really know, but I'm on a House if colour winter group on Facebook, and there are a number of ladies with grey or white hair who look fabulous in jewel tones. I think there is also a woman who changed from burnished to a sprinter winter, so suiting brighter shades than she had done previously. Why don't you have a re-rate?

No I doubt you’re a summer. I’m the same as you but now am lighter hair wise, I need to put the contrast back so I use eyeliner to stop my eyes from disappearing, and continue with the strong colours in clothing. Not always bright but always strong. If you move to a summer palette you’ll likely feel too muted.

No, you won't have changed season but you might have changed sub-season within your winter palette. I'm a summer so I'm not sure what the winter ones are....jewel, sprinter (?)....my advice would be to have a re-rate to be sure.

Thanks so much for your replies! I’ve only got a chance to check and am thrilled so many of you took time to post.

I hear you on the fading out thing... my eyebrows seem to have lost their intensity and contrast is down... those are very helpful tips @Itsashame, thanks
So I’ll up the contrast, and stay with the brights.

I was dreading “fading away” to grey and beige, or muting with a lighter palette, or pastels.

This aging thing sure is interesting.. I was almost tempted to go back to colouring my hair again, but will stay as I am I think (get a sharper style) and up the makeup on eyes and brows.

Thanks again Vipers! Grin

@LightweightStroller Don't fade away! If I take only one thing from having my colours done, is that I can still look (or try to look at least) fabulous as I get greyer and older. I admit that I dye my hair now, but it s just grey at the temples. Once it's pretty much everywhere I'll embrace it. Do have a look on Facebook. Its the unofficial house of colour winter group. It's pretty much all I use Facebook for (well, that and sewing stuff).
