BOOBS

Was it breastfeeding or pregnancy itself that changed your boobs? (If you know!)

OP posts:
20viona · 12/11/2019 21:02

I haven't breastfed and my boobs seems the same as pre pregnancy to me.

OhTheTastyNuts · 12/11/2019 21:07

Two pregnancies. I BF DS1 for a month and DS2 for 2.5 years.
My (very small) boobs look exactly the same as they did pre DC, apart from my nipples are now constantly 'out'. That was definitely down to BF.

Itsashame · 12/11/2019 21:10

I’ve definitely read (somewhere fairly authoritative!) that it’s pregnancy that changes breasts rather than feeding

Solihooley · 12/11/2019 21:14

2 pregnancies and two periods of I guess ‘extended’ breastfeeding and they look the same, maybe a fraction saggier but not very noticeable. I really don’t think my body generally has changed since having children. I think I’ve been quite lucky.

Blushingm · 12/11/2019 21:17

Pregnancy - I know they grew when I was pregnant as bras that fitted no longer went near me. They never shrunk again afterwards

BeatriceTheBeast · 12/11/2019 21:21

Surely they aren't going to look exactly the same at 70 as they did at 21?

Mine look more or less the same after two dcs, both of whom I breastfed. They are a cup size bigger, but I'm a bit fatter, so that makes sense 🤷‍♀️.

itsboiledeggsagain · 12/11/2019 21:21

Mine are the same just my nipple sticks out a bit more. 3 kids lots of bf

BeatriceTheBeast · 12/11/2019 21:22

I should add that my boobs definitely changed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but they went back to normal fairly quickly.

MorelloKisses · 12/11/2019 21:23

Same for me- just more sticky out nipples after 1 pregnancy and 10 months bf.

fastliving · 12/11/2019 22:20

I haven't ever been pregnant or breast fed.
My boobs aren't the same because of the passage of time....

user1471449295 · 12/11/2019 23:53

Breastfeeding does the damage.

PickAChew · 13/11/2019 00:18

Mine were heading for knees before either, just smaller.

Monikita · 13/11/2019 19:32

I extended breastfed with both of mine and my boobs are less saggy than before, but I now do weight training and callanetics. I'm also no longer pre-diabetic which was partly responsible for my 'pencil' shaped boobs.

mizu · 13/11/2019 19:34

I didn't breastfeed either. Before children I was 34B and I am now 34C. Look much the same to me although I guess they are probably a bit lower than they used to be Grin

JessWakefield86 · 13/11/2019 21:28

Breastfeeding, without a doubt. Two TT babies left me with visible scars where they chomped my nipples.

And the rapid weight loss after stopping feeding led to sagging and shrinkage. My boobs are hideous now. And yes, I do wish I hadn't persevered with bf through two tongue ties, failed snips and the like.

meow1989 · 13/11/2019 21:34

I only breastfed for 11 days, my boobs are much less full and sad looking Sad

chasingmytail4 · 13/11/2019 21:45

Before children I was an A cup, four children later and a total of 10 years of breastfeeding, I'm DD and quite perky. Wish I could tell you how I ended up with those boobs, but I can't - I'm just glad I did!

shitpark · 13/11/2019 22:19

I can't remember what mine were like before dc. I think my nipples are bigger and darker than they used to be. Apart from that not much change

Gardai · 14/11/2019 00:34

Why, what happened to yours OP ?

wantthismummy · 14/11/2019 00:39

I’d say pregnancy. I was a 34B before my son, I went to a 38D while pregnant. I’m now (he’s 2) a 32D and a size 12-14 when I was a 14-16 before I got pregnant!! I only breastfed in hospital.
Cheers son! Grin

CaptainCautious · 14/11/2019 00:45

4 babies, breastfed 3 of them. My boobs are bigger, and my nipples are darker and always out but other than that no difference really.

emmskie03 · 14/11/2019 02:30

Pregnancy. I'm actually pretty convinced that the longer you breast feed, the better the boobs 'go back' I.e. if you feed for a short time, they go from being larger from pregnancy back to normal very quickly and can't keep up with the changes whereas if breastfeeding it's a slower process. Most people I know who breast fed for 6 months or more seem much happier without post baby boobs than those who didnt or did for a shorter period although my theory may be complete rubbish 😁

That said, my sticky out nipples are definitely from feeding!

FunOnTheBeach20 · 14/11/2019 02:33

Mine changed significantly in pregnancy and again breastfeeding.

peeweehelp · 14/11/2019 09:10

@Gardai nothing.... yet!

I am considering having a breast reduction but would like to have children one day.

I was wondering if it's pointless having one now if they are going to 'grow back' during pregnancy.

It would mean I couldn't breast feed but I didn't know if it was that or pregnancy itself that changes them.

Might be better to try and live with the discomfort a few more years and have it done after. Although it could be years until I've stopped having children and it's unpleasant at the moment!

That's really tough op.

Would you really give up any chance of breastfeeding before you've even tried it though? You may find you love it and there are some benefits for both your health and your babies' health.

Difficult to think of that when you're in discomfort though I appreciate Flowers.
