I get thick, black hairs on my chin. I've plucked them for ages and I think it makes them grow back quicker. What's the best thing to do with them? Wax? I have no idea but they are making me feel so masculine and ugly.

Thanks how often do you need to use it? What's recommended ? Is it expensive?

Trewser · 18/11/2019 12:06

I think they say every two weeks? I did my chin and armpits weekly for a month now every two weeks.

Mine was about 300, might be cheaper now.

Honestly though it doesn't work for some people, you have to try it. I think theres a 90 day trial period?

blazingbags · 18/11/2019 12:16

Thanks for your reply. I'm dark haired and fair skinned so I'm hoping it works for me . Thanks.

Albanyriver · 18/11/2019 12:23

Electrolysis without a doubt. It works regardless of hair/skin colour. Some of mine were dark but some were coarse and blonde, with fair skin. It does take time but it is truly permanent. I was getting it done for 2 years before having to stop for pregnancy and I’ve hardly had any reappear. I almost feel I don’t need to go back but have 45 minutes left of my course that’s already paid for! It will be the best thing you do!

I'd love one of the Lumea things, but my hair is all blonde. I use a special facial razor for women on my peach fuzz, as I can't stand it. Waxing at the salon didn't do the job as I have so much on my cheeks, jaw etc. So, if I go for a lip and chin wax, it leaves a lot behind. I had a thread on here ages ago and someone recommended shaving it off. I was a bit Halloween Hmm, but it does the trick!

RowenaMud · 18/11/2019 14:18

Philips Lumea cannot be used to treat white / grey, light blonde or red hair and is not suitable for very dark skin. This is due to the high contrast required between the pigment in hair colour and pigment in the skin tone.

Is this the case for all PL’s? I have light blonde hair on my legs. Does anything work?

PenCreed · 18/11/2019 15:00

Lumea Advanced or Lumea Prestige? Advanced is currently reduced to £200 in John Lewis, so am seriously considering it! Prestige is twice the price, but I could technically afford it if it’s significantly better.

Beetie1 · 18/11/2019 16:17

@PenCreed ooo I've just had a look at that offer. Also interested to know which model of the PL people have.

onlyconnect · 18/11/2019 16:53

Does anyone know if it works on dark red hair?

RowenaMud · 18/11/2019 17:47

Lumea Advanced or Lumea Prestige*

It mentions dark blonde but not light blonde. I’m skeptical tbh as it specifically says it doesn’t work on a few hair colours.

MerryDeath · 18/11/2019 19:02

i can also vouch for the lumea. that's something i'd buy on a credit card and pay off over a few months if necessary as it pays for itself practically, if you value your
time!

Catandstuff22 · 18/11/2019 20:16

Does anyone have or know or a cheaper IPL? The cheapest Philips one I can find is 115. Or are the cheaper ones rubbish? Thanks everyone for the help.

30to50FeralHogs · 20/11/2019 08:46

I actually bought one called Smoothskin Gold, which was cheaper than the Philips one, so have a look at those

@Catandstuff22 Smile

PenCreed · 22/11/2019 10:23

I’ve bought the Lumea Advanced (£200 Currently in John Lewis). The main difference seemed to be corded vs cordless so I figured why spend the extra? The Lumea Prestige is £300 at the moment, presumably as a Black Friday offer, so get in quick!
