Ten years younger. What has she had done?

I saw an acquaintance this week, hadn't seen her for about a month. She's in her late forties. I'm
Not exaggerating when I say she looked amazing. Literally glowing and the years had dropped off her, easily looked very early thirties, glowy skin, eyes brighter. I don't know her well enough to ask and have no intention of doing it myself but what could it be? I always thought Botox looked terrible and I know she's had that before, I could tell. Just nosy really I suppose but she did look so good. Any ideas?

Having my eyebrows mircobladed took years off me. As does good botox but the results from the microblading were much more dramatic rather than the subtle improvement from botox.

MellowBird85 · 09/11/2019 17:15

Sounds like a facelift to me.

stoplickingthetelly · 09/11/2019 20:41

My guess would be good Botox and possibly a bit of filler too combined with good skin care and makeup

championquartz · 09/11/2019 22:27

Money.

Seriously. Money for the best diet, best skin treatments, best dermatologist, best plastic surgeon, best stylist, best hairdresser etc etc.

She’s probably had some sort of facelift, a few injectables, a bit of laser. À la Tesco, every little helps

Had she lost weight?

Honeybee85 · 10/11/2019 01:30

Good sex
Some discreet plastic surgery
Confidence refound

Prescription Retin-A, in my case Tretinoin. It gives you awful skin at first but then about six months in you suddenly have film star skin, glowing and perfect, 100% of the time. Its an astonishing transformation, I still can't believe it every time I pass a mirror.

If I'm going to an event or something I use Collyure Bleu eye drops too, they are also magic and make my eyes instantly sparkly.

Also the boring stuff, great diet, great lifestyle (daily workouts make your skin glow) loads of water/green tea and a good vitamin/supplement regime all make a big difference.

I have 'Tweakments' every now and again. A little bit of botox and a small amount of filler in my cheeks to lift my face slightly. Not enough to look like Ive had anything done but people often comment that I don't look my age or say that I look well. I'm not into the fake or frozen look and I'm far from obsessed with my appearance but having it done gives me a little boost. I'm fully aware that I'm no oil painting and have been made aware by other people from an early age that I never was or will be 'pretty' but having these minor procedures every now and again makes me feel better about myself. Having never been complimented on my looks it's nice to know that I at least look a little younger than many women my age.

RuggyPeg · 10/11/2019 08:46

Hhmmm, I think anyone 47+ ALWAYS looks their age. Looking 10 years younger in your late 40s is nigh on impossible. You can look better, improved, fabulous......but not 30 something. I have lots done.....Botox, profhilo, skin peels, laser, an eyelift but I definitely still look like I'm late 40s. Tweakments of any kind just simply can't replicate that youthful bounce, plumpness and elasticity of skin unfortunately.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 10/11/2019 08:51

Agree RuggyPeg
Age catches up with everyone in the end ( & I speak as someone who always looked a lot younger than my years......until I hit 50 )

Lizzy1980 · 10/11/2019 12:19

Yes unless you are one of the very few blessed with amazing genes it starts to catch up with us all eventually. Even if you are completely wrinkle free due to botox etc you inevitably lose that 'youthful glow' . I have a little cheek filler to restore some of the volume and yes, I believe I look a little younger for it but I'm not sure how much of it is down to the cosmetic procedures and how much is down to having a young at heart attitude towards life and a positive outlook. There's nothing more aging than stress, worry and walking around looking like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders

Lizzy1980 · 10/11/2019 12:48

Ruggypeg, you mentioned that you've had skin peels. Do you find there's a noticeable difference in your skin after? Is it something you'd recommend? It's something I would like to try but I don't know anyone who has had them and I would rather be informed about stuff like that by a 'real person' who's experienced it. Is it the same as a chemical peel?

RuggyPeg · 10/11/2019 13:42

I did the obagi nu derm regime years ago, which transformed my skin. Its a whole regime but the workhouse products are tret and hydroquinone. It took about 3 months and I peeled like a snake every single day, so it's pretty hardcore but it gave me an even, smooth complexion.

I also do at home peels with v strong salicylic acid that's only available from America. It's ded cheap but amazing.

RuggyPeg · 10/11/2019 13:44

#workhorse, not workhouse, not that it matters!!

It doesn't make you look younger btw but it does give you skin like glass.

Lizzy1980 · 10/11/2019 14:47

That does sound a bit hardcore and I don't think I'd be committed enough for anything like that. The salicylic peels sound very interesting though. I have an Aunt in New York who visits regularly, if I were to ask her to get some for me what exactly should I ask for???

Lizzy1980 · 10/11/2019 14:50

Sorry OP for hijacking your post x

shadyzadie · 10/11/2019 15:21

I'm mid 40s and have a little bit of filler in my cheeks and profhilo (I know it's a bit marmite on here, but it works for me). They've definitely helped me look less shattered.

In the last month I've gone gluten, dairy and sugar free (read the Nigma Talib book on gut health, inflammation and and ageing) and started taking a collagen supplement (10,000mg/day). I would say these changes have had the biggest impact on how I look, even though it's only been a month - I look fresher, more glowy and my face is slimmer.

My face is very food-sensitive though! If I eat pizza or something sugary it looks noticeably puffier and fuller the next day. The collagen has definitely improved the texture of my skin too. My face probably isn't a fair comparison because of the tweakments, but my neck looks less lined, skin on my hands is smoother. Generally it all looks a bit plumper and hydrated. I couldn't say I look 10 years younger, but I certainly look like a fresher, more rested version of me!

sheshootssheimplores · 10/11/2019 15:25

If she’s monied it could be a million things.

sheshootssheimplores · 10/11/2019 15:26

shady I do agree with that. I’m on day 8 of Whole30 and my skin does look very good. Possibly helped by a new vitamin c serum. Love will also help 🤭
