100% cotton vs silk for smart jewel colour tops (prone to sweating)

If there is/are threads which are relevant to this, apologies, if you could link that would be ace.
I'm sick of having so much crap in my wardrobe and never knowing what to wear. Each year I buy cheap poor quality jeggings, shoes, tops etc but want to stop.
I've started with a beautiful cardi and parka and am looking at dr martens.
At this point I'm a bit stumped, I prefer skirts and tights, and have loads so wont be buying for while, except perhaps a leather mini skirt.

My main quandary is tops, I love jewel colours and have seen some gorgeous 100 percent silk items. However I'm prone to hot sweats and am wary of anything which may exacerbate this. Should I stick to pure cotton?
All opinions and recommendations welcome GrinGrinGrin

I think a lot can depend on the fit (and colour) of the top as well in terms of the sweats. But I’m not sure whether the issue is appearance or comfort being key here.

Both can be a pain or a doddle to iton depending on each individual item.

Do you want to consider beyond cotton and silk as well? Viscose is natural (aka bamboo) and breathes, likewise modal breathes too; it’s made from beech leaf fibres.

Cotton for me. I find silk too warm.

Silk shows sweat patches like nothing else, so I'd avoid for that reason. It's supposed to be temperature regulating but I've always found it warm to wear.

Silk is very sweaty.

Stay away.

I prefer silk - I do sweat in it but it dries very quickly. With cotton it may take longer to break into a sweat but it doesn't dry and I end up damp and clammy.

I like silk and cotton.

But washing cotton is much easier. Which might be especially important for people that do tend to sweat a lot.

In regards to showing swear stains... Really depends on what kind of silk / fabric we're talking about....

OK, consensus seems to be cotton over silk. Comfort trumps style but nonetheless I'd love a couple of special tops.
Probably Jean waistband skimming short sleeve in jewel colours.
Any recommendations for places to look?
TIA
