What do you think of the current animal print trend?

Do you think animal print is so ubiquitous at the moment that it looks really clichéd? Or not?!

I have a pair of black & grey leopard print jeans, a knee length leopard print coat and some leopard print flats, bought them all last year. I always pair both with block neutrals and never ever wear them together!

I follow someone on IG who is animal print obsessed and dresses her and her DD in animal print all the time which is too much for me. But a couple of prints here and there are fine.

@Runmybathforme and @Screamqueenz
I’m very (bleach) blonde and I wear leopard print On my bottom half, but never traditionally glammed up for the bet lynch reason. Since I read that you should wear it as a neutral and can match any colour I’ve been having much more fun with it. I should also add I’d never wear it with heals, it’s always trainers or DMs.

MiltonRoad · 07/11/2019 07:45

Maybe it could be teamed with a Wolef jumper 😁

TipseyTorvey · 07/11/2019 08:42

@amrapalli oooh affordable too thank youGrin

TitaniaQueenOfTheFairies · 07/11/2019 08:47

Just leaving this here.

BubblesBuddy · 07/11/2019 08:48

I think Bet Lynch disappeared from Corrie about 20 years ago, or more! No one these days looks like her! Animal prints look good as long as they are one piece at a time. So I have a leopard print cashmere jumper. Also a leopard print shirt. They do go with black and camel well. I quite like the green and grey versions of leopard print too. I don’t think I’ll get a leopard print coat, but 24 year old DD has one. She doesn’t look remotely like Bet Lynch!!!!

Trewser · 07/11/2019 08:50

I am dyed blonde and have a leopard print jumpsuit that I sometimes wear with a really bright magenta scarf.

Totally bet lynch, I'm embracing it.

SoftBlocks · 07/11/2019 08:50

I really dislike animal prints except on animals. Actually that’s not true DC had some snow leopard slippers that were quite nice.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 07/11/2019 13:11

I have a full zoo in my wardrobe! Dresses, skirts, tops, handbags and boots in leopard, tiger, zebra, and snake prints. Oh, and scarves of course. I saw something in giraffe print too the other day....

Needless to say I dont wear them all at the same time, but i bloody love animal print! Grin

kjhkj · 07/11/2019 14:50

I was about to buy a skirt the other day but DSis told me its become too mainstream now to be fashionable and that I'd look like Kat Slater. So I resisted the urge to buy Sad

SteelRiver · 07/11/2019 15:57

I dont really think animal print is a current trend. It's one of those styles that never really goes away. I guess I'd think of it as a permanent trend. When it's done in moderation, I love it, especially with accessories. It's a great way to break up a block of colour, to create that one 'talking point' part of your outfit.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/11/2019 17:04

Titania is that a Indoor Scarf ?

I hadn't thought of snake except shoes .

Bunbunbunny · 07/11/2019 17:17

Still love it! I don't care if it is mainstream at the moment

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 07/11/2019 17:25

I think the idea that it doesn't go out of style is not really true, whenever something that would otherwise be a 'basic' becomes very 'in fashion', it then has the potential to go 'out of fashion' shortly afterwards.

See the thread about stripes - were just one of those things most woman had in their wardrobe, a stripy top of some sort. Then a couple of springs back suddenly everyone was wearing stripes - with skinny jeans and ballet flats. Now all 3 of those things need to be styled carefully (and not together) to avoid looking dated.

Animal print will be the new stripe. OK to wear, but just will look a bit "pulled this from the wardrobe without thinking about it" rather than "I've made an effort".

What I'm trying to say, buy the jumper if you are happy to wear it this winter, then next year not really wear it much. If it's expensive, I wouldn't bother.

TitaniaQueenOfTheFairies · 07/11/2019 17:27

@70isaLimitNotaTarget have I missed something? Are we not supposed to be wearing scarves indoors? There is a line in midsummer night's dream about a snakeskin big enough to wrap a fairy in, so I, Titania, wrap myself in my lovely scarf indoors.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/11/2019 19:49

Ha! There was a whole mahoosive thread about it Grin

Abigail098 · 07/11/2019 20:50

Seen a lovely zebra print sweater in H&M

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 07/11/2019 21:20

How can you say leopard print is a 'current trend' - were you not around for The Mumsnet Scarf? Grin

tinyteece01 · 07/11/2019 21:25

Snakes terrify me so I cannot even touch a thing in that print.

Abigail098 · 07/11/2019 21:27

@PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind I’m intrigued - what was The Mumsnet Scarf?!

OP posts:
CaptainPovey · 07/11/2019 21:41

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 07/11/2019 21:41

The Mumsnet Scarf circa 2011.

It was about 4 quid from ebay, and also came in purple and grey. I've still got mine!

What do you think of the current animal print trend?
Abigail098 · 07/11/2019 21:45
