Trousers for teen dd who won’t wear jeans or leggings?

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2019 13:45

Dd is almost 16 and has sensory issues with clothes (has ASD, SPD), she also has a condition with her bones that makes her a bit of a odd shape so finding clothes that fit is a nightmare, she’s pretty short, has very wide hips, big bottom, small waste and big boobs. She finds jeans and leggings too tight around her hips and bum but if I buy a bigger size they are too big around her waist and too long in the leg. At the moment she lives in jogging bottoms and they look awful (like she’s wearing PJ’s all the time). She won’t wear dresses or skirts as she’s not girly.
Any suggestions on trousers that are comfy and smartish? She will have to wear smart clothes to six form next year and won’t be able to wear joggers.

would she wear jogger jeans (like attached)? They are designed to look like jeans but feel like joggers.

Musicforsnorks · 06/11/2019 16:08

The hush harem pants are su-er comfy, adjustable and much more stylish than joggers.

Or a loose fit cargo or chino in a super soft cotton (joules, etc)?

I think any type of jeans/leggings substitute will still aggravate sensory issues, personally. Jeggings for me are just as restricting as jeans.

Musicforsnorks · 06/11/2019 16:09

Super comfy!

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2019 19:18

I bought her a pair of jogger jeans at the weekend with an elasticated waist (primark) bit so far she has refused to wear them Sad

She won’t wear anything with a fly, button or popper so has to be elastiacted. She used to tolerate leggings and jeggings but now says they are too tight around her hips and thighs.

We went shopping at the weekend in a big city and the primark trousers were the only thing she agreed to buy, we looked in H&M, Zara and urban outfitters and she didn’t like the look of anything. She won’t wear joggers from superdry (they look slightly better than what she wears) so lives in GAP joggers.

M&S straight leg joggers?

Bubblysqueak · 06/11/2019 20:16

Sainsbury's do fab black trousers that are a stretchy material that are really soft. tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/PETITE-Black-Roll-Top-Joggers/134965609-Black?searchTerm=:newArrivals:colour:Black&searchProduct=

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2019 20:18

Thank you Bubbly they would be perfect for her to wear at 6 form, she wears something similar at school (luckily school haven’t noticed as we are meant to buy certain trousers).

Also voting for the M&S trousers - here

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2019 21:44

Thank you, the M&S joggers look good and they do them in “short” too.

I'm not sure how to link but try these trousers. I have them, They are essentially jogging bottoms but styled like smart trousers. They come in a couple of colours

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 06/11/2019 21:59

Have you considered a skirt or dress? Dresses in particular can be beneficial in that they get rid of a waist entirely

Will she wear tights? I think the answer will be no, but if yes h&m do an incredibly versatile black tube skirt. Sometimes you can get them in primark too

If not what about a long dress something like this or this

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2019 22:15

She won’t wear a dress or skirt, she’s not girly at all and often wears boys clothes (or gender neutral).

Would she consider dungarees with no waistband?

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2019 22:40

Sadly not, have tried with dungarees and jumpsuits but she has dyspraxia so struggles getting out of them to go to the loo 🤣

singymummy · 06/11/2019 22:44

Have you tried Lounge suits? Comfy but stylish ones from ASOS.

Also emilee jeans from new look are like jegging jeans super comfy

ChanChanChan · 06/11/2019 22:45

Have you looked at Uniqlo?

www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/women/bottoms/trousers-leggings-sweatpants

Their Ezy Ankle length trousers are pull on, with no fly, very comfy. Have you considered having trousers tailored for a better fit? Buy big enough to fit hips & bum, have the waist taken in.

CravingCheese · 06/11/2019 22:57

I buy a bigger size they are too big around her waist and too long in the leg.

Could you take in the waist and shorten the legs? I take in most of my trousers at the waist (well, pre pregnancy) and it's fairly easy.
I would have suggested loose slacks (some of them also are slightly elastic) but those do indeed have a fly and a button.

Would stretchy palazzo trousers be an option? Taking them in at the waist really isn't too difficult ime.

Harem pants?

Lovemusic33 · 07/11/2019 13:32

Thank you, I will look at all the suggestions with her. She won’t wear Harem pants as I wear them (apparently I look like a hippy) 🤣

OP posts:
GuppytheCat · 07/11/2019 14:42

More here from Sainsbury's - stretchy with a belt to pull in the waist

Shockers · 07/11/2019 14:46

@Lovemusic33 - slight derail but I’m looking for harem pants to wear after an op- where do you get yours from? There’s a huge price difference on the ones I’ve seen- are the cheaper ones ok?

DarlingNikita · 07/11/2019 14:48

I have Hush harem pants. They're not cheap but they sometimes go in the sale or on a buy-one-get-xx%-off-another type deal (how I got mine). I think they're fab.

Lovemusic33 · 07/11/2019 14:58

I buy them from Amazon mainly and eBay, some are thinner than others. They are very comfy, I lived in them after a opp a few months ago.

Thank you both!
