How often do you change acrylic nails?

I have always tended to do 2 times with infills before getting them soaked off and a new set, however some people tend to do infills for longer (which would be cheaper overall) what is the general consensus????

I was wondering this the other day.

I can normally get 5-6 infills out of mine. The place I go to is very good, and I'm quite gentle with my nails so they wear well. I don't change my polish colour between infills either (the remover obviously weakens the acrylic).

Interested to see what others think.

When I did acrylics id go 6-7 infills then soak off for a breAk of a few weeks then I’d start again. I do sns nails now so timings are different

I have a gel colour over the top so that helps to prevent any damage (and reduces the need for polish changes as you say)

I read somewhere online once that someone goes for 6 months before changing!

I used to get a full set of acrylics which were nail extensions at my salon, not sure if that’s what you’re referring to.

To be honest, I would just get 1 infill then remove them for a fresh set, so a new set every month. I guess it depends on how fast your own nails grow, and if you don’t get extensions you could probably get infills for longer with less issues!

I should also add that I keep mine very short which I think prolongs their life too.

GinAndTings · 05/11/2019 14:54

You don't have to remove at all, you can keep getting infills. As long as the condition of the natural nail and if they are looked after - no need to remove.

I've only 4 or so sets acrylics, I've always let them out quite long then found a weak spot and pinged them off... Blush

WhoKnewBeefStew · 05/11/2019 15:37

I only change mine if they start to lift. Otherwise I simply infill. I'm on about my 4th infil

Berthatydfil · 05/11/2019 15:38

I just keep getting infills about every 3 weeks and have only had to have the odd one or two new nails usually if the gell has lifted or the nail underneath is broken. I do keep my nails quite short though.

Glitterb · 05/11/2019 16:15

I just have infills and have the odd nail replaced if I’ve caught it or it’s lifting. There is no need to have them soaked off and a new set put on if you have regular infills.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 05/11/2019 21:23

I have infills but don't have them soaked off and replaced. What is the need and the benefit of that?

I'm under no illusion my nails would be in awful condition after many months of acrylics, not sure a new acrylic coating would change that.

I don't have tips anymore, the length is all my own nail now, just with acrylic applied as infills. Don't like them too long.

Tinyandpetite · 05/11/2019 22:22

I’ve had mine on 6 months before, I usually get infills around every 3 weeks. I think I got 7 infills before I pulled the last set off. This is my latest set. I’d definitely just get them replaced when needed x

I had infills every two weeks for over two years, never had them soaked off

terriblyangryattimes · 05/11/2019 22:55

I get infills every 3 weeks, have regular polish on them and maybe change that once in the three weeks. I just had an old set soaked off and redone but only because 3 nailed had started to chip and lift. If they hadn't I'd have carried on!

Applefairy · 06/11/2019 02:51

I used to have them soaked off every three months or so. But the place I have gone to for the last two years just infills every two weeks. So no soak off ever now. I keep them short so this may be why they never lift.
