Hair bands after 50?

I’ve seen a lot of hair bands and just wondered would it appropriate to wear them now that I’m 50? I know you should be able to wear anything at any age but I don’t want to look ridiculous.

I saw a woman wear one the other day and she looked so lovely.

If you think back to how the Edwardians dressed 100 years ago - fashions change. The days of the older lady with short, permed hair, mid calf skirts and cardie are long gone. 10-20 years ago, you'd rarely see an older lady in jeans, but it's the go too now - thank goodness. You can wear what you want and nobody will even think about it.

wear what you like!

My daughter (19) really into this trend. I tried one of hers on recently and was transported back to 1987 (but with added eye bags). I think this needs to be filed under “been there and done that” 😉

I’ve seen many older women with hair bands, etc.
It’s more to do with how you look in general, and with just a touch of elegance.....

Below shoulder, wavy/tousled hair works well with them I think.

I can see this dressed up; evening out , member of orchestra - to more laid back, slouchy jersey hareems etc..

I like them and wear them occasionally (I'm 45).

They look really trendy with short hair but I think with long hair, on older women, they can look a bit frumpy.

I pull my fringe forward in a side parting at the front and I think that helps.

Also, I keep them plain....no flashy bits or patterns.

Saying that, they look different on different people. Wear it with confidence and I'm sure you'll carry it off.

The marvellous Felicity Montagu. Hairbands always make me think of Perpetua from Bridget Jones.
