Is animal/leopard print ok as a wedding guest?

I've already got a post about trying to find a suitable wedding guest dress. But I'm seeing a few leopard print dresses that might work, I just feel animal print is a bit off for a wedding though.
I know they can be a bit love/hate. I personally like them and have a few dresses/skirts already.
But personally choice aside are they wedding appropriate?

I wouldn't. Why not call this a poll and see who agrees?

Mollpop · 31/10/2019 12:00

I wouldn't

Smarshian · 31/10/2019 12:01

I think it’s fine but I’d usually go floral for a wedding

GirlOnIt · 31/10/2019 12:07

I did think voting would be a good option in style and beauty @BillHadersNewWife.

It's a winter wedding @Smarshian. Ideally I'd like plain but I'm struggling. Summer wedding I'd usually go floral.

I wouldn’t for a wedding either

Majorcollywobble · 31/10/2019 12:10

I haven’t the confidence to wear it but with the right accessories I can’t see why not .
My daughter attended a wedding recently and wore a dress which was black and white - a stylised rather than an actual animal print . It looked really smart .

GirlOnIt · 31/10/2019 12:13

For reference something like these, style wise.

As long as the dress is dressy enough, a particular print wouldn't put me off.

It all depends on the style of the dress

Ineedanamechange79 · 31/10/2019 12:21

I have worn leopard print twice to a wedding. I check with both brides, both of whom thought I was batshit for even asking if it was ok. They couldn't see why it would be an issue.

Sleepyquest · 31/10/2019 12:26

I wouldn't but someone did to mine and I didn't care Smile

Smarshian · 31/10/2019 12:27

How about this from next?

Oh yes I’d say it’s absolutely fine done right. It could look lovely for a winter wedding.

GirlOnIt · 31/10/2019 12:35

I need breastfeeding and post birth friendly @Smarshian.

OP posts:
Smarshian · 31/10/2019 12:39

Ah! Have you tried “can I breastfeed in it?” On Facebook. They are usually brilliant for suggestions.
Having said that I love the dress you suggested, just trying to suggest alternatives if you weren’t comfortable with leopard print.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 31/10/2019 12:42

I have that Dancing Leopard dress in a different print. It does not stay on your boobs. There was a hilarious post on Facebook where everyone shared the hacks they were using to keep it in place... usually sewing it closed or pins. They are a bit of a nightmare for returns, so if you know anyone with it, it might be worth trying it on and making sure it'll work for you without needing sewing if breastfeeding access is required Smile

Wheat2Harvest · 31/10/2019 12:45

Definitely not. Animal prints have a reputation for being downmarket.

BeatriceTheBeast · 31/10/2019 13:57

I am really careful about what to wear to weddings and even i see no problem with those dresses, especially as you need bf friendly (I have been there too recently and it's a bugger).

I wouldn't go dressed as Cat from Eastenders or whatsername from vintage Coronation Street. Was it Bet Lynch?

But those dresses are fine.

HelloDulling · 31/10/2019 14:01

Of course. I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t.

goose1964 · 31/10/2019 15:06

I would say it depends on the wedding, if it's a posh one no but if it's more relaxed then yes.

LolaSmiles · 31/10/2019 15:12

I think the style matters more than the print.
Animal print can look very wedding appropriate or more like a night on the town depending on the style

GirlOnIt · 31/10/2019 15:38

It is going to be quite posh @goose1964. I think I'll forget animal print and keep looking!

OP posts:
GirlOnIt · 31/10/2019 15:40

I like this, but not sure how easy to feed it would be and the biggest size they have left is a 8. Don't think I'll be back in a size 8, four weeks after birth Sad

Asos quite often has things come back in stock op, so maybe check again nearer the time? I like that too btw.

Sakura7 · 31/10/2019 15:54

How about a wrap dress like this?

Even better that it's on sale!

BeatriceTheBeast · 31/10/2019 17:26

Also, could you do a top and a skirt if they were smart enough?

When I was bfing, I tended to do better with a top I could pull up with a vest underneath which I could pull down iyswim?
