Botox ..... are some better than others ?

I went to an expensive Salon a couple of years ago as had done some research and was keen to get the best .
I wanted a Dr to do the procedure at the time to ensure safety . Again probably naive .
Anyway it costs me £275 a time now for my 11,s amd my crows feet .
It's a lot of money and quite a distance to drive .
Someone locally offers the same procedure but for £175 and for 3 areas not 2 ?
She is a nurse so not a Dr but apart from that what's the difference if the reviews are good ?
I'm quite naive but are there different types of Botox ?
My DP says I should stick with my original DR regardless of cost and because he's a doctor .
I'm wondering why I shouldn't go locally for so much less money ?
Is there a difference in product amd are nurses as well qualified to do this well ?
TIA X

I don’t think it matters if it’s a doctor. Some people are better at judging the aesthetics of it though. If someone’s super cheap I who’d wonder why. Mine isn't a doctor but is the same price as yours. Wouldn’t change as she’s the first person not to give me Spock Eyes.

I think if you’ve found someone whose work you know suits your face, stick with them. You might save £100 by going to the less expensive place but if it means you aren’t happy with the results you are stuck with them for months.

I know people always say get a doctor not a nurse to do it and I’ve stick by that but I go to a clinic where all the botox practioners are qualified doctors who work in the NHS as well as working at the clinic so I’ve only ever been treated by a doctor and even amongst them I’ve had variable results. In fact the clinic recommends you go to Dr XX if you want a natural look and Dr YY if you want to look ‘done’. I’ve been using Dr XX for a while but was disappointed with my last result so have now got an appointment with the senior practitioner Dr ZZ. She is a little more expensive than the others but IMO she’s worth it.

I would go to the doctor. You already know you like the doctor's work...

Saving money isn't worth the risk imo.

I would add here that any doctor can do an afternoon course of a couple of hours then offer themselves up for doing Botox so not all doctors are equal. My son's ex GF doctor did this. I go to a facial and dermatologist consultant at a private hospital and it costs me 180 a visit in SE England every 6 months.

I think there are cheaper types of Botox, one causes a very frozen look. I'm the same as you, pay more for a doctor who has nice premises locally, a lot of my friends use salon types of places 😱. I'll be honest, the results aren't great and it seems to wear off very quickly. I'm more than willing to pay the extra.

The botulinum toxin they inject will be the same.

It's about the skill of the person doing the work.

Frozen faces are to do with either a choice by the patient, or the practitioner putting in too much of the toxin into the wrong places.

I have botox for migraine - 37 injections last time, across my forehead, scalp, neck and shoulders. The first nurse was amazing but the second has done it in different places, and I had nerve pain in the neck of my head and constant headache for about a month from the forehead injections. She wasn't so skilled.

userxx · 30/10/2019 08:50

It's dysport that gives the horrible frozen look, it's cheap and best avoided.

userxx · 30/10/2019 08:53

@TwattingDog I used to suffer with migraines badly, since having Botox for cosmetic reasons I rarely suffer. I don't have anywhere near as many injections and it's just in my forehead but do you think the Botox is keeping them at bay?

The botulinum toxin they inject will be the same.

Not if it's cheap Chinese Botox .
