What to wear while losing weight

I'm currently dieting and losing weight. Slowly but it's going. I've a Stone and a half to lose to get back in a 12 from my 14/16 bottom and 12/14 top. I'm perfectly weeble shaped and look fat not big - I look like I'm not meant to be this size iykwim
Anyway, living in m and s high waist jeggings and a few tops that cover my belly. But I'm so limited for work. I need some core items, cheap as possible which might also work after weight loss.
I need a temporary work "uniform" almost. Any clues? My office is smart casual currently so think trousers/ tops / shirts for most women - some do dresses but not tailored stuff and no suits / heels at all.
Please help ! Attached is pic from summer for my shape. I'm about 6lb heavier now

Matalan have black trousers all different lengths that are cheap. Try eBay for smart bundles if you don’t mind second hand. I like some Wallis and Debenhams tops for work as they are often semi fitted so covers me for my fat or thin days!

Could you go to a charity shop for a few items of your 'inbetween' size, then donate them back once they become too big for you.

SiddaleeWalker · 26/10/2019 18:45

I second the charity shop- I’m in the middle of losing a lot of weight (4.5 stone so far). I’m on my way to a night out in a Ghost dress (£7) and a Hobbs wool and cashmere coat (£15). They have been a godsend, I love a rummage now.

Eminybob · 26/10/2019 18:49

I’m in the same boat as you op - I have about a stone to go but I’m the reverse of you, I have big boobs and non existent hips!
No advice but just wanted to say I think you have a lovely figure - I guess it’s true you always covet the opposite of what you have.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 26/10/2019 18:53

I'd take the boobs and lose my hips! You're so right we look at what we don't have...
Where do I need to shop for Hobbs coats in charity shops? Not here!! But a good idea to go chazza shopping.
My belly is my issue. Boobs are 34D. 32E if you do Debenhams measure but I felt like I had heartburn wearing a 32 band!

I found skirts better than trousers.

Trousers tend to ‘bag’ around the arse/hips, which is not flattering - even if you take the waist in.

Skirts can start higher on the waist then drop down as you loose weight, without looking bad.

Wrap dresses and tops are forgiving and can be adapted as you loose.

EbayAddiction · 26/10/2019 19:06

I think dresses are the easiest thing to wear when losing weight. I've lost a stone and my dresses still look fine, some just fit better and some just look a bit looser.

TowelNumber42 · 26/10/2019 19:12

Accessories. Cool jewellery, shoes etc. A couple of different ways of doing your hair and your makeup if you wear it. Jackets. Don't waste much money on in between clothes.

Skirts can be good, especially if in a length/style that still looks good if it sits lower on your hips/waist as you lose weight.

Aderyn19 · 26/10/2019 19:22

Next do a long wool tube skirt, which would see you through. You could size down because it's stretchy and it would still be good once you've finished losing weight.

Michellelovesizzy · 26/10/2019 19:35

What about primark ?

thetardis · 26/10/2019 19:39

ebay, obvs :)

JaceLancs · 26/10/2019 21:19

Tube skirts and stretchy trousers from somewhere like M n S (jegging style but not denim)
I find fine knits eg merino work well as they look ok when worn a bit looser - same for jersey type tops

fluffygal · 26/10/2019 22:26

I have about a stone and a half to lose, currently a 12. Have you ever tried Uniqlo jeggings? They are brilliant, so comfy and all I wear to work! I have them in black, grey, blue and purple. Then team with a nice top and a cardigan, or where it has got really cold recently, a smart jumper.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 26/10/2019 22:46

I haven’t any big clothes aside from my new m and s jeggings hence not wanting to buy many new “bigger” clothes.
Tube skirt might work. Any links?
I’ve just bought a stretchy top on ebay after the advice and may trot to Primark but what should I get? Their trousers look a bit nylon and weirdly if I buy a 16, the legs and bum look big but waist has no chance in a button closing pant. I’ve jeggings from there in a 16 that are snug Blush

Snag tights and tunic/causal dresses? I have a couple from White Stuff (outlet) Mantaray (Debenham sale) and Gap/Joules.

MontyBowJangles · 26/10/2019 23:49

Casual not causal!

Divebar · 27/10/2019 06:31

You do not look like a weeble under any circumstances - you have a perfectly lovely figure.

ToftheB · 27/10/2019 06:38

I've got a pair of these uniqlo leggings that are remarkably forgiving at a range of sizes. I'm currently one week post birth, and they're tight but look fine - but I happily wear them when I'm a couple of stone lighter. They're not like plain leggings - the pockets, button and seam make them feel like proper trousers.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 27/10/2019 06:42

Uniqlo do nice work trousers that have an elasticated waist so you could slim down wearing them without noticing too much of a difference. Sometimes they have a sale and you can get them for £7 otherwise they are £24, they wash well too.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 27/10/2019 10:29

I may get some Uniqlo pants then. Their sizing guide seems good. I need a large or extra large though which is hard hitting. I’ve never been this big so for me, I really feel big and bursting out of clothes, ashamed to go out and at work I hide behind my desk (and jokes about myself) to cover up
Then eat Maltesers to feel better. And so it continues...

Dresses. One or two. Plain stretchy dresses. You can wear too small cardis over. All kinds of accessories and if you have it an oversized jumper will = skirt. Or even better pinafore dresses. Just layer your too small tops underneath.
