Bare legs?

If where I am it is 9 degrees Celsius and raining at night, can i go out in a dress and ankle boots, with bare legs? The dress is just above the knee. Or would it be a faux pas?!
I could wear black opaques but don't want to, it looks better without.

Yes, though you will be chilly! Wear cut-off leggings under your skirt? I do this all the time until it gets really cold, but admittedly with longer skirts. Literally just cheap leggings cut to the right length so they don't show when you sit down!

Musicforsnorks · 25/10/2019 19:24

For a night out I’d just put up with it if you’ll be mostly indoors.
For everyday no way!

Ketomeato · 25/10/2019 19:28

Naice gels never wear bare legs.

Mesacasa · 25/10/2019 20:49

Ok I'm going to go for it .

@Ketomeato not even in summer?

I hate wearing tights.
Go for it.
Have a good night

Ketomeato · 25/10/2019 23:10

Mesacasa no. Not ever ever.

HundredMilesAnHour · 25/10/2019 23:26

If you're going out in the North, yes! You're fine with bare legs down to about -20 degrees.

If you're in the South, absolutely not! Put some bloody tights on. Grin

BusterGonad · 26/10/2019 03:34

I like nude tights, always have done, gives my legs a nice look and covers blemishes etc

BusterGonad · 26/10/2019 03:35

Oh and I hate bare feet in shoes so that's an added bonus!

whatswithtodaytoday · 26/10/2019 03:36

Where are you going that it might be a faux pas? Have bare legs if you want, you'll just be cold!

Only in the north of England, the Scots are more sensible and wear warm outer layers that then get shed in pubs.

Mesacasa · 26/10/2019 07:30

I did it and I survived. Even for chatted up a few times which is odd for an overweight nearly 40 new mum woman. Power to the bare legs

I’m sure I read that New York business women always have bare legs. They can’t risk snagging or pulling tights.

Talking if pulling, well done Op!

Ketomeato · 26/10/2019 14:10

Meghan always has bare legs. I love her, but it makes me a bit headmistressy.

whatswithtodaytoday · 26/10/2019 15:12

I loathe sheer tights, they're utterly pointless and ladder so often they uneconomical. No idea why anyone wears them anymore, now fake tan is so easy.

ConFusion360 · 26/10/2019 16:26

That's exactly why I don't bother with them any more.

SalamanderOnHoliday · 27/10/2019 07:03

I wear them because I live 8n the north west and my legs would be mottled blue with cold except for a few days each year.....

SaskiaRembrandt · 27/10/2019 07:20

You say 'sensible', in the north of England we say nesh Grin

Being serious, you are right, as a transplant from the south I find the habit of undressing in the winter really perplexing.

thisenglishlife · 27/10/2019 11:31

@Ketomeato
Meghan always has bare legs

What about these times?

Bare legs?
Bare legs?
Bare legs?
thisenglishlife · 27/10/2019 11:35

And this time.

She has fabulous leg skin and nude tights are hard to find when you're white, never mind finding a good shade when you are mixed race, not white or have dark skin.

Bare legs?
BusterGonad · 27/10/2019 11:58

I doubt MM has bare legs, isn't it royal protocol to wear nude tights? I'd say she's found a brand that are exactly right for her.

Auldspinster · 27/10/2019 12:04

Flesh coloured fishnets are a good compromise.
