Foundation

Hi all,I need some help finding a good foundation. All the foundations I have tried lately tend to sit on the surface of my skin and look all bitty. This is after exfoliating. My skin has gone all weird after having little one! Any recommendations greatly appreciated! Don't mind about cost either as long as it works! Thanks in advance.

I LOVE the Chantecaille foundation that comes in a compact - think it's called Future Skin. Costs a blooming fortune - about £40 (keels over). Fenwicks sells it if you're in London. It's very sheer but somehow still manages to even out your skin tone well. Also when I was last in SpaceNK they were raving about a new foundation from a company called Terry - apparently Terry is the woman who invented Touche Eclat (see slim22's earlier post). It might have been just marketing nonsense, but they're often make up junkies in there so it might be worth a try.

I think this is the By Terry stuff, isn't it, Furzella? Prices just as as the Chantecaille.

CountessDracula · 23/08/2007 15:27

oh I love chantecaille lip gloss
not tried the makeup

I use almay it is fab and very cheap!

CountessDracula · 23/08/2007 15:29

this it is very light and translucent still shows my freckles which I like}

slim22 · 23/08/2007 15:31

oh yes, make up bu terry!!!!
she was the director of make up at St laurent i think.
my mum (65) swears by this new find.
Expensive but miracle apparently!

I've just ordered some samples from LilyLolo, they look great so I can't wait to try them out. Will any brushes be ok for now as I don't want to buy the proper one yet in case I don't like them.

seb1 · 23/08/2007 16:28

Avon's new brochure has mineral makeup in it. Don't know what it will be like.

Furzella · 23/08/2007 17:41

Yes, Jackieno, that's the stuff. Cripes, even more horrendously expensive - somehow I always manage to pick them... Still at least I still like cornsilk powder which is cheap as chips...

oops sorry overexcited mouse finger...

JackieNo · 23/08/2007 17:44

. Have to say, I'm impressed with the Lily Lolo stuff - I've been quite spotty recently, so it's nice to know that the makeup won't make that worse. Also, I find that if I use a clean eye make up sponge, I can use the foundation as a concealer, and it actually works. I like the look of the Chantecaille and By Terry stuff, but not sure I could quite bring myself to spend that much (though maybe if I tried a tester, I'd be convinced).

cornsilk · 23/08/2007 17:49

I love chanel vitalumiere foundation. It is very natural looking. I usually use the liquid which is great, but last time I was at the counter they gave me a sample of the solid stuff with a tiny sponge. I took it on holiday and it was fab. Will be torn between the two next time I have to buy more! The assistants on the counter are usually very good about giving out samples if you show an interest in a particular product but aren't sure which type to get.

JackieNo · 23/08/2007 17:52

I have some of the Vitalumiere (the liquid one rather than the solid), but found that using it every day brought me out in spots, so I save it for special occasions now - you're right - it has a lovely finish to it.

CountessDracula · 24/08/2007 09:11

...if you want to look like Pat butcher

JackieNo · 24/08/2007 09:50

CD - I think it's really light, actually.

CountessDracula · 24/08/2007 13:09

Yes
but it has a SILVER sheen

elfinblast · 26/08/2007 01:15

I have terrible problems with make-up. For the last few years I've not found anything I can wear. Any foundation makes me look like a skanky flaky leper.
I've been using a tinted moisturiser and keeping my head down.

Anyway, I ordered samples from lilylolo and doja. The lilylolo ones arrived today and I'm impressed. I found it fairly easy to apply, even though I'm not used to using a brush, and I thought it (I) looked really good.
I'll wait until I've tried the doja stuff before I make a decision, but I will certainly be buying one of them.

I think Revlon might do mineral stuff.

JackieNo · 26/08/2007 22:36

Ah, just looked further down in the thread - looks like it's L'Oreal.

JackieNo · 26/08/2007 22:43

L'Oreal.

tracyk · 29/08/2007 14:39

I use the bare escentual (sp?) - really like it. About £24 - but lasts for months and months.
I'm going to try the lilylolo samples though as I've got the posh brush already.
I use www.coolessentials.com for their face wash and moisturiser. I've had no spots and way less blackheads since using their products. Bit pricey - but they also last for a couple of months.

missbumpy · 30/08/2007 12:26

Just got some Lilylolo samples last night and I'm a total convert. I love it. I look much better than I usually do with my foundation/concealer/powder combo. Going to order some full size stuff today.
