How to keep sleeves rolled up?

Teensruletheroost · 24/10/2019 09:51

I have two new really soft shirts that come with rolled up sleeves and a little button tie to theoretically hold the rolled sleeves up. But it doesn’t! The material is so soft it just falls down and I end up with a fully dropped sleeve and a tiny bit scrunched where the button tie thing is held up.

So I am hoping some of you S&B may have a good way to actually keep soft sleeves rolled up?

Help please!

Have you tried folding and ironing in place?

Dilligaf81 · 27/10/2019 09:35

I have bought some really small safety pins then pin inside the fold so it cannot be seen. It also helps if you fold them in big folds so 3 folds rather than 6. So fold the sleeve in half then half again till the right size if that makes sense?

Can you link to the shirts? I love a soft shirt. Grin

A couple of tiny stitches though the underside of the tuck and into the sleeve will work fine. One under the button tie back strip and one opposite seam usually will suffice.

*on the seam

That’s great, thank you 😊

Spray starch and a really hot iron!

Teensruletheroost · 27/10/2019 09:58

I have ordered some tiny safety pins. I don’t really do ironing (hence a good reason I don’t belong on this board Grin along with having absolutely no sense of style ) and would like the ability to put them down if I want so safety pins seem a good fit.

Thanks again.

Or sew them in places

Myimaginaryfamiliarhasfleas · 27/10/2019 10:07

Don't leave the safety pins in between wears. Over a long period they can rust.

Teensruletheroost · 27/10/2019 10:13

Thanks myimaginaryfamiliarhasfleas - that wouldn't actually have occurred to me despite it being common sense so useful to be reminded!

It's hack no. 3 although I found all the hacks brilliant.

Thanks Ididit
