Lip fillers - needle v pen, which is better?

I'm looking to get some light lip fillers and not sure which to go for.

My regular doctor does needle fillers which Ive never had, and my beauty therapist does fillers with the pen.

Both are the same price so I'm just wondering which will be less painful and if both are equally effective?

TIA

Go for needle. Preferably Russian technique (micro-droplets). The pen is meant to hurt less but I don’t think it gives accurate definition (I’ve seen in person as well as many pics) and it definitely doesn’t last as long because it doesn’t go as deep. If the numbing cream is left on long enough and they use a cannula when they inject them you’ll be fine!

Why would you let somebody who isn’t a registered health professional inject something into you? I would never consider a beauty therapist for fillers. The market needs better regulation. Sorry it doesn’t answer your question about which is best.

Research into what Brand they use if anything. I went to a nurse for my first ever fillers an I'd never return to her !! The brand she used was cheap and as a result I got balls in my lips (I didn't know the brand thing at the time)
Then I found a therapist who only did Botox and fillers an seen she had amazing reviews and the brand she used was a highly recommended one.
Luckily enough she managed to remove the balls after a few goes and I wouldn't go anywhere else now she's fab an i always text her if any questions or for a quick top up!
They numb you before hand regardless an it does make your eyes water on your Cupid's brow but other then that. I don't think pen or needle make a difference. Just be wise on the brand they use and do your research into the best person don't just go for "a doctor" because it's a professional like I did- isn't always the case !!! X

I agree with the above re who to go to. I’ve had medical professionals do a rubbish job and beauticians who have been incredible.
