ilovecherries "Either that, or be clear upfront about return arrangements so I can make a choice if it’s worth me risking it."

To be fair to them, did you not notice the change to Hermes when you bought it? It's quite clear in the payment options, even if you pay by card. That's where I noticed it first.

AudacityOfHope · 22/10/2019 15:00

I'm not familiar with Cos so just had a look at the website and this is the hero image on their homepage Shock

I think a PP was right when she said their website must be deliberately bad to keep the masses away.

Cos ...tell me all about them
ilovecherries · 22/10/2019 15:37

seagulls, nope, I didn’t notice they had changed it for returns, or I wouldn’t have completed the purchase. No item of clothing is worth a three hour round trip to return. In any case though, it was more a general comment. Loads of retailers don’t give information about what service they use for returns, ‘free and easy’ returns is meaningless if you don’t live in an area that offers more than a post office.

0lga · 22/10/2019 16:33

Cos is my favourite shop too. I but only in store as I live near a large one. I will only order online if I’ve already tried it on and need another size / colour. As PP said, you need to try on everything as the clothes have no hanger appeal.

Interestingly ( to me anyway ) I’m a totally different shape to the other Cos aficionados on this thread - I’m an average height, size 10 Apple with big boob, thick waist and slim bum and legs.

I also don’t wear black at all. Cos always have lots of navy and grey , and this season they also have olive green and aubergine. So plenty non black but neutral options.

I buy mostly coats and jackets, dresses, knitwear, tops and jewellery. I rarely buy their trousers as their cut isn’t good for me- the wide legs are usually too wide and they are always too long.

Because their clothes are never “on trend” you can wear them for years. I’ve never had any quality problems with fabrics but I am very careful how I launder.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 22/10/2019 16:39

I’ve never suited Cos clothes - I’m short and a size 16 - but might give them another go. Aubergine is a fave colour of mine.

I have 2 cos jumpers. I love one and it looks beautiful on. The other looks good to start with but by lunchtime the elbows and cuffs (wrist) have gone all baggy and it looks horrible. It’s a shame as the style/colour is nice and the fabric feels lovely against the skin.

I bloody love Cos and a good chunk of my wardrobe is from there. I've always done big sales orders online but like Judy was caught out last time by the change to Hermes (DPD shop is round the corner), there's a Hermes near my work but carrying one of their huge boxes on my morning commute is Not Fun. They used to let you return by post, I suppose at least store returns would make things a bit easier if you happen to be near a shop...

Anyway returns gripes aside, I love their trousers, knitwear, t-shirts, shirts, jumpsuits (really love the jumpsuits), coats, blazers, accessories. Dresses are a bit more hit and miss for me but I still have about half a dozen!

As PP said, they don't date as much as some other brands; I'm still wearing Cos items I've had for nigh on a decade (particularly a couple of thin stripy tops with a neckline more scooped than they'd sell now, but which layer beautifully under the aforementioned jumpsuits).

FWIW I'm 5' 9", pear/hourglass, size 14, take a Cos 40/M.

AuntieMarys · 23/10/2019 00:40

Some of my favourite items have come from Cos...and they last for years. Wish they did long leg length trousers. Jewellery and accessories are nice

Deathraystare · 23/10/2019 09:33

I love Cos and marmite! I am 5ft 4ins and a size ..well around 18/20. I have had some lovely clothes from there. Particularly like their white shirts but have to check the material as there is a lot of tencel which acts like my nemesis - Viscose - in that when I put anything with either of those in it I sweat like a p.i.g.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/10/2019 18:51

I am away with work for a few days and took my jumper to see if they would exchange it in store. They would not. I think if it had been my first order from them I would have checked the courier/returns options, but since I have happily been using the DPD drop off thing it didn’t even cross my mind.

I did buy another jumper in store though, and will eBay the massive one I can’t return!

PrudenceTremaine · 23/10/2019 19:41

I think droopy women of a certain age who work in the arts, social care or charity sectors wear it.

That said, sometimes you can get non-droopy stuff there.

Ohyesiam · 23/10/2019 19:50

I’d love to love Cos, but none of it works on me. I feel that I’m not statuesque enough to get away with their stuff, I need very broad shoulders and killer cheekbones to look good in it.

AmethystWoodstar · 23/10/2019 20:08

A lot of their winter stuff seems to be dry clean only...

Moominfan · 23/10/2019 22:29

I think droopy women of a certain age who work in the arts, social care or charity sectors wear it.

It's not to my taste but no need to mean about.

PrudenceTremaine · 23/10/2019 22:45

sorry I didn't mean to be mean. I'm fully in that demographic and have a fair few cos clothes. I meant it's just a bit of a look. I was in there a couple of weeks ago and all the women were of an age and look.

Divebar · 23/10/2019 22:53

well if women “of a certain age” like it it must be shit Hmm

Zinnia · 23/10/2019 23:34

In my old office there were a number of Cos devotees, even apart from me. Some of them were incredibly cool, East London-dwelling 30somethings with directional fringes. It was more meedja than arts. Does that count?

Floisme · 23/10/2019 23:58

Well yes it's a look, and one that I think can work well on droopy bodies. And I agree they can be good if you're in a sector where you need to look modern and professional but not corporate. You say that as though it's something shameful though which seems a bit odd, although only you know how you meant it.

I disagree that the clothes themselves are droopy though. I find them kind of sharp and boxy and angular which helps counteract the droop.
