Wearing the same thing on each Monday, and so on

I’ve noticed one of my colleagues (who always looks very nice and stylish) always wears the same
Thing on a Monday, same thing every Tuesday and so on. Just curious to see if anyone else does this? I’ve never thought of it before but I can see some sort of logic to it as it would make dressing easier

I dont do this but am seriously considering it when I go back to work in January after maternity leave. With getting 2 DC ready for nursery in the morning I don't have the time or bandwidth to decide what to wear every day so was thinking of having a 2 week rotation of outfits obviously not set in stone if it's raining or a surprise heatwave etc.

I've also started taking a picture of myself and saving it in a folder on my phone if I think the outfit I'm wearing is nice so I have some ideas ready to go on days when I don't have time to change my mind about what to wear.

polexiaaphrodesia · 21/10/2019 16:13

Also, I can never remember what everyone else in my office wore yesterday let alone last week so I think I'd get away with it!

Idontneeditatall · 21/10/2019 16:36

It IS a good idea isn’t it! Although I have a colleague who only works Mondays, she might think I only own one outfit if I did this!

I wear the same thing on a Monday purely because it doesn't need to be ironed after washing (M&S waisted midi dress, pair of tights and boots).
I vary my other outfits through the week depending on the order I tackle my ironing but Monday is a staple (2 under three to get ready as well as me!)
I think it's a great idea to have your outfits on hangers for the week ahead tho!

AliceLittle · 21/10/2019 16:54

I did when I worked in an office. I had 5 black tops, 5 pairs of 3/4 length trousers to wear in the summer and 5 skirts I wore with tights in the winter. Accessorised with 1 of 2 scarves and a cardigan. Don't know if my colleagues noticed but it made my mornings a hell of a lot easier.

Ninkaninus · 21/10/2019 17:06

No I couldn’t do that. I very much dress according to mood.

But I do operate a fairly strictly curated capsule wardrobe. So I always look well put together, and I can dress in the morning without too much thought going into outfits/shoes/coat, or what to wear with what and making sure everything matches. I do often plan my outfit the night before, which helps.

AgathaTheAardvark · 21/10/2019 19:04

I like the idea, but I don't think it would work for me in practice, as I seem to change shape a lot and what suits me one week might not look so good the following week.

I did this, but on an 11 day cycle. So Mon - Fri, Mon - Fri, Monday, then start back at the beginning on Tuesday of week 3. Avoids the same thing, same day, if you only see certain people on one day a week.

timeisnotaline · 21/10/2019 22:01

I think this is wow. It’s probably not for me at the moment as it is a bit what I fit into, and the comfy stuff for hard days, the heels for not dashing off to clients days etc, but I’d like to be more prepared. Maybe getting 3 days worth of work outfits out on the weekend and letting the others be night before picks? I like the idea of photographing ‘this works’ outfits to have a library to walk through. I have done that once, I really need to rewear that outfit (if it fits Grin)

Ohms11 · 22/10/2019 06:49

I think it better to have 6 outfits to avoid this. I work with certain colleagues only one day per week, and would not want them to think I only have one outfit!

BlackSwan · 22/10/2019 06:54

I would cry if someone forced me to do this.

AliciaQuays · 22/10/2019 07:09

It’s unimaginative. Wrt getting dressed with toddlers - plan the night before. Everyone has 5 mins to do hair and make up

Irisloulou · 22/10/2019 07:17

My friend does this. Irons everything on a Sunday, puts onto hangers, including underwear, tights.
Has special hooks in a spare room.

It must make mornings super easy.

Thatnovembernight · 22/10/2019 07:27

I kind of do this but only because I have very little money and so have a capsule wardrobe with two pairs of black trousers, 5 tops/shirts and lots of scarves. I’m trying to lose weight so I don’t to waste too much money on things that hopefully won’t fit for long!

Floisme · 22/10/2019 07:35

I would never want to do it with clothes but I'm like that about cooking - I don't enjoy it but I like to eat well so I cook the same thing on Mondays etc so I don't have to think about it.

Celeriacacaca · 22/10/2019 09:25

Maybe clothes Suduko would be a good compromise. Or wear dresses - then you barely have to think about what to wear Smile
