Lip balm recommendations?

Lhastingsmua · 18/10/2019 00:06

Boring one, I know.

My lips are quite dry recently - just feel very, very tight rather than peeling/cracking though. I have lip fillers and a cold which exasperates the dryness.

My holy grail Kiehl’s products aren’t helping at all, I apply the products multiple times a day but just get temporary relief with no real improvement so would appreciate your recommendations!

Carmex. Home Bargains is the cheapest place I've found for it.

tothesea "I hate that slightly panicky ‘can’t find my Carmex’ feeling!"

I keep several pots/tubes around the house, in my bag, in the car for precisely that reason!

bohemia14 · 18/10/2019 09:33

Rose by Terry is the nicest I've used. I got a small pot in a beauty box and it's lasted for ages. I'd buy it again even though it's expensive.

nmc99 · 18/10/2019 09:34

Where on the high street can one purchase the nuxe one?

BitOfFun · 18/10/2019 12:13

Marks and Spencer do the Nuxe one.

DogAndCatPerson · 18/10/2019 12:17

Lip balm recommendations?

I'm a huge Carmex fan but I know it irritates some people, my husband included. I wasn't too fussed on the Nuxe one, I found it gritty. I like Elizabeth Arden or Dr Paw Paw too.

IndigoSkye · 18/10/2019 12:27

There's a Norwegian formula one, it works like magic and feels really nice on

Betty777 · 18/10/2019 13:51

I buy carmex and mix in a dot of pigment (deep corally-red) that I bought from Mac about 10 years ago) = tinted carmex

Rose and Co do really nice ones that last.

Daffodil2018 · 18/10/2019 14:00

Luxe: Crème de la Mer (£50 but lasts ages and is the best product I've ever used)
Mid: Aesop do a lovely lip cream that sinks straight in and is very soothing. £10
Budget: Blistex, echoing many PPs Smile

L'occitane shea butter. I use it as a lip balm, as well as on dry elbows, hands etc

Cosmos45 · 18/10/2019 15:15

Molton Brown lip balm is literally the holy grail and I buy it and hand it out to friends liberally (!). My sil in law came to stay and her lips were so sore, all of the skin around her lips was chapped to hell - I have never seen anything like it to be honest, it looked so painful. I gave her a tube of Molton Brown and it had significantly improved by the next morning and she had been struggling for days. I gave another friend a tube and she said it's the best stuff she has ever used (she is cabin crew so constantly suffering due to the cabin pressure dehydrating her).

fedup21 · 18/10/2019 15:20

Nuxe is amazing.

hairygodmother · 18/10/2019 15:32

BA used to have Molton Brown products and I always husbanded the lip balms carefully (back when I was young and single and lived abroad. Sigh). Had forgotten about that. It is brilliant.

Abraid2 · 18/10/2019 15:34

Lanolips. You can buy it in some supermarkets. Certainly Waitrose often has it.

BackInAtLast · 18/10/2019 17:42

Another Carmex vote. Also the blue lid vanilla Burts Bees is much nicer for me than the Honey one.

I was given a Jo Malone lip balm in a tube and it is AMAZING. I've had it about 2 years and I hope it never ends. I have no doubt it cost a fortune but it's gorgeous in every way and when I need to feel a treat, I reach for that one.

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 18/10/2019 17:45

Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter £3.95 or Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Cream £15 ish from TJ HUGHES online.

Lhastingsmua · 18/10/2019 20:37

Wow wasn’t expecting so many replies! Thanks so much!

Funnily enough I already had an unused pot of Carmex at home, it’s actually really good. My lips already feel so much more comfortable and soft, even after the lip balm has naturally sunk in. Will work through the other recommendations if Carmex fails me!

The only recommendation I can give you in return is avoid Kiehl’s lip products, they’re both overpriced and shit.

Carmex original, amazing stuff and for night, laneige sleep balm

Mummybares · 18/10/2019 22:35

I get dry lips a few times a yeat. I apply a layer of honey and leave it on.. needless to say this is done indoors! Its gone after 10 minutes. Honey is healing and hydrating. I cant be arsed reapplying lip balm and this leaves my lips soft for weeks. Must say i drink lots of water which helps anyway.

babooshkamybush · 18/10/2019 23:12

Only thing which has worked for me is to use Laneige lip sleeping mask (just a lip cream /balm - Korean I think ), it's brilliant. Use it every night and have zero issue with dry lips even if sub zero...

You can get it from Amazon but is cheaper from yesstyle even with shipping. It looks like its expensive but a 3g travel pot has lasted me about 4 months...

Starksforthewin · 19/10/2019 01:47

I’ve tried virtually every product mentioned on this thread, but nothing beats Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream.
I stockpile it, I couldn’t bear to run out. I have it in every room and handbag.

If I was ever captured by the enemy they would only have to withhold my lip balm and I would give up all the state secrets!

Telesto · 19/10/2019 03:32

I find Blistex relief lip cream the best. I get it in Tesco.

vaz119 · 19/10/2019 07:40

I swear by bepanthen!
