Flat comfortable shoes to wear with jeans/chinos for winter?

DontCallMeShitley · 13/10/2019 23:24

Where do I start please?

Slip-ons are my preference, love Converse but not for me, memory foam insoles also not for me. Flat, not platforms due to weak ankles.

What do you wear with your 'cold ankle' trousers? I am not worried about the gap, just need to find some shoes that look right and don't leak.

Brogues, short ankle boots, leather/ish trainers e.g. Nike AF1
Socks in a contrasting colour.

DontCallMeShitley · 14/10/2019 19:15

Thank you, would prefer shoes with no laces, just not sure what style.

No socks, just shoes, I know it is fashionable but doesn't work for me. I don't mind the draught and can't stand the heat from boots and socks, hence no memory foam which seems to be cold and sweaty at the same time.

I spent years trying to find footwear to go with combats in wet weather, by the time I find something this time it will be time for something different.

What about Chelsea boots? They are slip on (in).

thedevilinablackdress · 14/10/2019 19:33

E.g. www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/c/slip-on-styles

There's 3 boots and a shoe on that link

ChinookPilotsGoVertical · 14/10/2019 19:40

Timberland boat shoes? (admittedly they've got laces).

totallyradllama · 14/10/2019 19:44

Clarks loafers

DontCallMeShitley · 14/10/2019 21:06

Thanks again, not Chelsea boots, I really want shoes, and actually hate Chelsea boots (have tried them, just no).

Just reminded me I had a pair like those Edison shoes, but they didn't work.

I have weird feet, shoes are difficult, I really do not want boots, have trainers but they are too hot, just looking for flat shoes.

Will look at Clarks, they come up big don't they?

Mint velvet have some nice slip on trainers

albird · 15/10/2019 22:22

I just bought some really comfy loafers from - Hotter !! - not their normal frumpy look - they do standard and wide fitting too. They are called Surrey - look great with skinny jeans.

DontCallMeShitley · 16/10/2019 07:52

Thank you, will look at them.

Surely all that's left are ballet flats, some sort of plimsolly affair, or loafers really?

I'd just go into town if possible and try a load on OP, loafers are everywhere at the moment. I sympathise with the 'weird feet' though, finding shoes that I both like, and are comfortable is a nightmare. Just got a pair i really like, but are very different (for me) from Zara but it sounds like they'd not be for you, they're patent brogues, kind of a Doc martens sequel vibe but more feminine.

dontgobaconmyheart · 16/10/2019 12:26

*Doc Martens-esque vibe, sigh.

AaaaaaarghhhWhereAreMyKeys · 16/10/2019 12:37

Superga are really comfy, much better than converse

DontCallMeShitley · 17/10/2019 02:13

I already have DMs, really old ones, laces and a zip, (90's maybe)and a short pair, so don't need any of those, also have similar style boots but lighter. I really want a change. Have trainers, several pairs but they are just too hot due to the memory foam. I have plimsoll type shoes and Converse style too, really don't want anything else that laces up.

I have tried so many styles and have far too many pairs of everything, my winter style tends towards biker/flying jacket type of thing and I just want it to be different but not short boots. I am lazy, and just want something to slip into. I don't need to follow fashion so much as look reasonably up to date and more classic than scruffy which is what I am just now, all my comfy shoes have given up.

Thank you all. I think I know what I am going to look for now, finding it is another matter.

Not slip on but really comfortable & I love them

HakunaM · 17/10/2019 07:10

I have these. In several colours. Haven't found any shoe more comfortable...

Not sure how stylish they are though.. www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,302/2257100079

chasingseagulls · 17/10/2019 07:29

How about a chunky loafer to offset the width of the biker jackets you wear:

DontCallMeShitley · 17/10/2019 12:00

Thank you so much, I will have a look at those.

I have chunky loafers but they are a bit too chunky for me, bought them to wear with long skirts and patterned tights which is my other look, they don't seem to work though but maybe because they are black, will look at another colour, or get black jeans if I can find some that fit. Still need some for the non black look though.

Sadly I can't wear M&S shoes, their sizing is 'off', I have tried many times, find something I like and either much too big or too small, even if there is a half size. Or too wide. Last batch went to the charity shop, worn once.

Will go and look at the links.
