What do you wear to a concert?

Ok, I have tickets to see my favourite Indie band in March, Nottingham. Standing tickets. First time I've ever seen them OR bought standing tickets so am a bit apprehensive! Obviously I will be wearing jeans of some description and will be informal with comfortable shoes. But...my questions are:

A) suggestions for a comfortable alternative to converse?

B) how warmly should I dress? Not allowed a big bag in the place so if I wear a coat I will have to keep it on all night in standing. Will that get hot? Baring in mind it will be early March and I imagine Nottingham will be be cold. leather jacket? Long sleeved top? No jumper?

C) a suggestion of a little accessory that will make me look remotely stylish and like someone who attends concerts all the time?!

For context I am a mom jeans/T-shirt/belt/leather jacket kind of gal when I'm dressed down. I'm curvy and a size 14.

Rarely get a night out with my husband do want to feel a tiny bit special even though I have to be practical!

They will most likely have a coat check. You could say the venue and some local Mumsnet people might know.

I go to metal gigs but the advice would be similar for most gigs I think.

I wear jeans and a band tshirt (not the band that's on and trainers/comfy boots because the standing does hurt!
I normally am staying over in a hotel so I leave everything except the money I will need and sometimes my phone so I don't need a bag.
I take as light a jacket or cardigan etc as I can get away with so I can tie it around my waist or tuck it into my belt.

I also tuck the tshirt I buy into my belt too so my arms are free.

It's the Motorpoint one in Nottingham.
Tying something round the waist is an idea...

I alway wear comfy boots, a vest top of some description and a zip up hoody. I always buy merch and fold the tshirts up and stuff them in the hoody pockets and can tie it round my waist over the top of my small long strap over the shoulder handbag so it doesn't bounce around and no one can try and steal anything out of it. Merch is extra layers to wear home in the evening when it's colder. I usually wear my jeans that have pockets on the lower legs for extra storage.

Wow that's some orcanisation 1vandal2

peridito · 13/10/2019 21:24

or even organisation !

Oldraver · 14/10/2019 11:11

As others have said your most comfy footwear as you could be standing for hours. (I wore Superga's recently) and yes a t-shirt/ligth blouse with a hoody/cardi you can tie arounf your waist.

It usually gets hot by the end ot the night in these places especially if they are are dive like the one I was in Friday so a coat would probably be too much

Goawayquickly · 14/10/2019 16:19

Definitely comfy footwear, I’d have a crossbody bag to keep stuff safe and my hands free. If you want some kind of accessory then earrings would be most visible at a concert I guess.

AliceLittle · 14/10/2019 17:44

Long sleeve band tee and a hoodie that can be wrapped around the waist. Jeans/leggings whatever your comfy trousers are. Def trainers or boots and I usually wear a bumbag to carry phone, money etc.

FreezingMyTipsOff · 14/10/2019 18:56

Ok, will invest in a cross body bag. I don't own a hoodie...not very me...will investigate a jumper to tie round my waist!

I was at a sweaty club gig last week and wore a vest with a hoodie over the top and a small shoulder bag. Jeans and trainers on the bottom half.

Elllllle · 15/10/2019 09:14

Curious that so many of you wear hoodies! I've never worn one to a gig, not my thing either. Tricky question though as you will get super hot in a coat ... maybe a denim jacket you can tie around waist. I wear low heeled ankle boots or trainers

RosieBooBoo · 15/10/2019 10:38

I usually wear black skinnys, ankle boots with a nice silky strappy top tucked in and a leather belt. We always go into town before gigs for drinks so like to be a bit dressed, i always wear a leather jacket and small cross-over bag - jacket hangs from that during gig.

beckyvardy · 15/10/2019 10:43

This type of weather - Blazer type jacket, skinny jeans and a nice vest top and comfy shoes or boots.

Summer, causal Lycra dress with like a semi sheer type tie top over it or a lightweight long cardigan with either cowboy boots or trainers.

Cross body bag is a must.

walkintheparc · 15/10/2019 10:47

Cross body bag, jeans, trainers, slouchy black tee, fun earrings, leather or denim jacket that you tie around your waist.

Don't over think it.

Oldraver · 15/10/2019 11:14

Elllll

I use hoodie as a catch all phrase I suppose for a cotton top. Mine was a Joe Browns zip up hobby. Enough to keep the rain off but light enough to tie around the waist

And what is it with stinky damp clubs, why haven't we moved in

O2 Oxford looking at you

I have a 'going out jacket' - it's like a thick blouse with great big gems near the neckline. It goes over a top but is light enough to tie around my waist when I get hot. The gems make me feel dressed up - but it's a greeny colour so not 'too much' for a relaxed crowd. I also take a small cross body bag with key, money, lady things, lippy. Oh, and I have 'going out flat biker boots'.

This seems more my style! I need a new top then Grin well, I don't, but it's a nice reason to buy one!

I wear dresses, my H&R London dresses are on rotation for gigs (bonus is I can put things in my bra.)
A small cross body bag is essential. The two I have look tiny but can hold a surprising amount of junk. I always stay at a hotel so I can dump a load of stuff there but essentials like purse, phone, wet wipes and lippy all go in there (I have a tiny purse that fits inside an inside pocket for extra security. No one would want to steal my phone, it's tiny and ancient.)
I wear comfy shoes, sneakers in the summer and low heeled boots in colder weather (my next gig is in November so it might be chilly.)
If I can get away with it I'll wear a scarf and a cardi instead of a coat.

LittleWingSoul · 15/10/2019 22:48

Depends how squashed in the front you are thinking of getting... Either way I would go with a pair of trainers you don't mind getting too trashed as people will be stepping on your toes/spilling beer etc. I wear a pair of old Nike blazers when I go out raving, black opaque tights, bodycon skirt or dress and an oversized hoodie I can tie around my waist when dancing but snuggle into on the way home. The trainers are washable! The earrings are big hoops, sometimes a bumbag, sometimes cross body, have fun!

stucknoue · 15/10/2019 22:51

If it's the Motorpoint arena it's not that warm compared to a club venue - though if you are dancing you'll get warm of course. I wear jeans, ankle boots (flat) and a nice stroppy top usually, with a silky cardigan to wear until I get warm
