Drooping eyelid

I am in my early 40s and for the last year or so I have noticed one of my eyelids droops down a bit,It never really bothered me much.
However now it is really bad and I am aware of it, in that I can actually feel it pressing down onto my eye.
How do I go about having surgery to fix it? and can anyone recommend somewhere to go or share any stories?
I am in the North West.
Thank you

I'm not sure about cosmetic fixes for this but just wanted to suggest a trip to the GP might be wise to rule out myasthenia gravis or other possible medical causes.

I second what ellequick said. Get it checked but if it's just aging causing it, try a case of CACI facials first before resorting to surgery. Once the course is over you need a top up every one to two months. I tend to be able to go 6-8 weeks between top ups and my droopy eyelid is no more!!

I was told by an optician that my drooping eyelid could be corrected on the nhs if it was affecting my vision.

See your GP. My mum had a small surgery to correct this on the NHS. If it’s bad enough, they’ll do it as it’s not “cosmetic”.

pinksoda see your GP i have just had my eyelid corrected on the nhs
I was referred by my optician, which might be best for you to see first,as they will do a test to see if it obscures your vision, if so they will contact your Dr,who will refer you to the hospital, but your Dr will have to apply for funding which might take a few weeks to know the outcome,
All in all it took about 9 months from start to finish, and i am so pleased with he result,
I had been trying to save for it being done privately ,but i was seeing a Dr at the hospital for another reason and he asked what was wrong with my eye,i said i was hoping to get it sorted eventually and he said ,[to my surprise] don't pay for it we can do it here,
So please ask before you pay a lot of money out for it
I can't tell you how pleased i am with mine, and no bruising ,no stitches out, dissolvable ones, day case, in at 8am home at 3
Go for it

DH was referred to the eye consultant who noted his lids drooped a lot over his eyes. He said as it could interfere with his vision he would operate under LA and remove the excess skin. Done not as a cosmetic operation, and all free and quick in the NHS Worth seeing your optician for a referral? Eye ops cosmetic, cost around £2K

I forgot to say my eye op was classed as a brow lift because it was done through my brow and pulled up through the brow ,as the eyebrow was lower at that side too, so i have no scars either
