Winter hair and skincare - share your secrets

I seem to have literally paled and my skin just looks washed out and dry in the last few weeks since 'autumn' has arrived!
Usually love this time of year for fashion and clothing but am struggling with skin and hair care and make up.
I think part of it is busy - kids life plus work FT, I run home from work (7km) most days so I guess that takes it toll too.

I think I need up up my regimes.
I m 40 fair skinned, prone to the odd hormonal breakout, skin prone to drying out in the winter and overall looks dull and crepy atm. It s like summer glow has just washed off lol!
What skin care should I look towards ?
I use kiehls midnight recovery, plus kiehls over night moisturiser, usually double cleanse and pixiglo tonic, vitamin c cream every second day, plus hyalourinic acid most days.
I admit I get very confused with all the acids cleansers and potions availabe and tend to stick to my simpler regular above routine and produces but maybe I need a little more ?
Oh and water - I know I need to increase uptake!
Hair need to get it trimmed and colour topped up (greys starting to come through) then gojng to try some regular conditioning masks.

Any other suggestions or care to share the changes you make for winter as opposed to summer skin care?

I think an AHA might be useful, or an enzyme mask. They basically eat the dead skin cells from your face so can help with the 'dull' look.

I also find I need a serum under my moisturiser in the day, otherwise I just dry up as the day goes on.

I don't know Kiehls so I don't know occlusive your night routine is, but you need something to hold in all the moisture overnight. Vaseline or a sleeping pack will help with that.

Squalane oil. I add a couple of drops to my moisturiser day and night, and run a few drops through the ends of my damp hair before drying. I have quite oily skin though, so that is enough for me to just up the moisture a little bit for the colder weather, a heavier oil is probably better for drier skin.

Squalane really makes hair feel lovely and soft, and it's very light so doesn't weigh hair down or look greasy.

You sound like you are doing a lot in terms of facial creams and potions. Have you tried just a facial scrub every now and again to get rid of the top dead cells mechanically rather than chemically? Do so and then give your skin a rest for a few days (as in do not scrub everyday). It should help with the absorption of the serums.
