Spam me with ideas (graduation)

For an outfit (including shoes) and hairdo for my graduation. Relevant information- it will be November, I'm travelling by public transport to get there, I'm in my 40's, short and size 12, tend to look dumpy in things that would suit someone taller and can't wear heels. My hair is shoulder blade length and thin - I always struggle to find a nice style that doesn't need lots of hair and this has to accommodate the graduation cap too 😫. I don't have a really big budget either, looking at about £150 tops for everything and want to reuse it for smart occasions after. I can't dress like a 21 year old but don't want to look matronly either! Thanks in advance.

What colour is the sash on your graduation gown? What colours do you prefer to wear? Do you like this?

Also, can you wear a kitten heel or completely flat shoes only?

Hood/sash is pale blue. I don't know about kitten heel. I had a foot fracture and find my metatarsal hurts after not long enough in heels. And I'm scared of going arse over tit on the stage too Grin

I quite like that, but would it be too long on me? Also I don't know if I'd need a suit type jacket to look formal enough. Usually I tend to live in jeans or hippy type trousers and work is just black trousers and shirt or jumper. I have wondered if I could pull off something quite colourful or quirky but don't want to stand out too much or look like I have misunderstood what is expected. Best to play safe probably. Quite like oranges or pinks.

I have a graduation ceremony later this month. I'm planning to wear a midi length black wrap dress from Gap and some smart flat lace up shoes. I don't get on with heels and I want to minimise my chance of tripping! I wouldn't suggest doing anything too elaborate with your hair as the cap will cover most of it.

Best of luck with your graduation, I hope you have a wonderful day!
