What's going on with my hair?

I have foil highlights every 6 weeks, done with bleach and have had them for years with no problems.

I had my roots done 3 weeks ago and since then my roots have felt sticky and greasy like I've got wet look gel on them. No amount of washing gets rid of it. The only hair product I use is salt spray, and this is used very sparingly on the ends of my hair before leaving it to dry naturally.

My scalp also has developed lots of spots/scabs since I had it done.

Has anyone had a similar experience or any ideas about what's causing it and how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance!

It might be a silicone build up from either the shampoo or conditioner you use. I had it once from using a certain well-known brand. I washed it a coupld of times in a clarifying shampoo, changed to a different brand with less silicone in and the problem was sorted.

I had this at the back of my neck when I used to bleach my hair at home. I have psoriasis and my scalp reacted badly to it. Coal tar helps a lot. I would also see a doctor if it's the first time you have had a reaction like this.

I would also contact the salon to let them know you have had a reaction like this. Maybe they have changed products?

I have a similar problem. I regarded my hair as my crowning glory, mid length layered style, very full, 3 different colours used in my high/lowlights. It has been dull and lank for weeks now. Hairdresser recommended a move away to a new organic vegan shampoo ( can't remember the name without looking at the bottle) it feels better but is not fully recovered. I suspect that silicone is part of the problem but it is still not right. Next time I will have it cut a bit shorter and have some more lively colour put in, I feel a right old drudge at the moment.
