tween makeup recommendations

My DD (11 and a half but looks much older) is at high school now and asking if she can wear makeup and get some for her Christmas. Her friends are wearing makeup (true - can see this for myself) and she doesn't want to be left out.

Now I definitely don't want her to wear a face full of makeup due to her age. As she already looks older than she is, I don't want to encourage that either. Yet I'm aware she wants to fit in and is starting to feel a bit self conscious, especially about her spots.

I was thinking therefore that maybe she could try some clear mascara, tinted lip gloss and concealer (as she has quite a number of spots and some kids have made cruel comments Sad).

Are there any cheap but popular recommendations? I know Benefit is popular but I don't like benefit products myself.

Should I take her to a makeup stand at half term or would that be too much?

I was never really into makeup myself. A bit of rimmel hide the blemish and heather shimmer and that was me.

Thanks

the lush trix concealer sticks are good and they don't contain nasty chemicals, however they are only available in selected stores (Oxford Street, Liverpool, Birmingham and Belfast) or online. the wet and wild clear mascara is good, and i think they do tinted lip gloss too x

I'd take her to a decent make up counter, tell them obviously nothing too heavy but still good quality. Encourage her with some nice skin care products too, a good primer, a beauty blender and brushes (more hygienic than using fingers especially with teens who don't wash hands as often, especially with hormone spot skin) she can get the right shade, coverage and type (oily or matt etc) concealer and foundations then too rather than buying any old thing based on brand and looking a mess or agrivating skin

Real Techniques brushes are great.

The Collection concealer is the best I’ve ever used and it’s under £5. I find clear mascara pointless, best get one from Collection - their whole rage is great for the price.

Also make sure she’s taking it off properly - Superdrug own brands are very good, Simple is popular with teens too.
