Really shit hair...

My hair is thick and takes a long time to dry (even with a hairdryer). It sits flat ontop but the ends are really fluffy and wild. It sits just below my shoulders and looks like a triangle Confused

Pre children I would straighten it and that worked well enough. But I just don't have the time anymore.

I've tried different shampoos, deep conditioning treatments, serums, you name it, but nothing seems to make a difference. So it's permanently tied back looking terrible. I would consider something like a pixie cut but I really don't think it would suit me.

If I had the money I would consider a rev-air hairdryer. But I don't...
Any advice welcome Grin

Layers and weight taken out of it so that it sits better.

I've heard good things about the Babyliss Big Hair, maybe try that instead of blow drying? Or sleeping in rollers to get some volume.
I'd also keep conditioner away from the roots and use some anti frizz serum on the ends.

RacheyCat · 05/10/2019 14:53

I grew mine to just below my boobs and got long layers. No more triangle hair.

Wavyheaded · 05/10/2019 18:38

I have similar hair, though not thick. I've found what works to get rid of triangle is either a bob (or lob) or shoulder length with layers, or really long.

Perm? Search modern perm on Google.

Mummybares · 05/10/2019 19:43

Triangle hair is that awkward stage of growth for thick hair.i highly recommend you try brazilian/keratin hair straightening it will dry quick get rid of frizz too

Undercut. Seriously. My hair is like yours. It’s a nightmare because it’s so thick. Undercut has helped so much. DH shaves it for me now (after the initial time st the hairdresser).

Thank you @Pinkflipflop85 @RacheyCat @Wavyheaded
I'll definitely keep growing & get some long layers added in!

Have you tried the Curly Girl Method?

I do it now and I absolutely love it and get complimented on my previously shit hair all the time.

My hair is quite fine, but there is a lot of it iyswim? I too suffer from hair which tends to be flat on top, but frizzy and heavy at the bottom. I used to dry and straighten mine every day, (insane). I now don't even dry or brush it. I just co-wash, condition, put a bit of mousse and oil through it and leave it. I don't even towel dry it, as it makes my hair frizz up! I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't got poker straight hair. Not everyone likes it, but it is so worth a go, as the reduction in time spent styling and it looking so much better for longer is so worth it.

TapDanceJazzHands · 07/10/2019 18:26

@FeckOffGraham I have tried this a couple of times but find it takes soo long for my hair to adjust and I hate the feel of the products on my hair.

I did find that my hair looked loads better when I plopped and diffuser dried it but it was such a faff, and it looked terrible the next day.

I so wanted it to work!

Do you brush it with a normal brush, if so, switch to a wide tooth comb, wooden would be good, I use Eqlef which is available on Amazon. My hair is not similar to yours however my MIL's is - however she wouldn't listen to me in the first place!

No heat either, you're just frying it I'm afraid.

It's a vicious cycle in that you (well not YOU personally) will use straighteners/hairdryer to "tame" all the while making it worse.

I hope this helps! Smile

I have really thick hair, and a pixie cut works well for me - are you sure you wouldn't suit one? None of this half-arsed pixie cuts mind you, a really nice short one.
