If you have short hair what do you use in it for texture?

I always use a stick of hard wax but since I stopped bleaching my hair I think it looks too greasy.
I've let my hair go grey/white and it's the first time since I was 14 there isn't any dye or bleach in it, I didn't realise it seems to be naturally slightly greasy Hmm
I shave the sides and the top is slightly longer but I cut into it to make it choppy. I'm also going through surgical menopause and it looks thinner.

Tecniart Pli by L’Oreal is really, really good. I’ve had both short and long hair, and used it for years. It is totally non-greasy but adds texture without feeling all hair-sprayed and sticky. Spray over when it is wet and blow dry (it’s fine to use a brush as it doesn’t really brush out). Once dry, I sometimes add a little bit more and scrunch to give texture. It feels really soft and natural.

Aveda damage remedy daily hair repair leave in conditioner. It's really good ans leaves a good texture without any stickiness or greasyness . Expensive but lasts ages, I usually buy it from Look Fantastic as they often have good discounts on Aveda

Garnier Fructis surf hair wax when it's newly cut & very short, VO5 styling wax when it's a little longer. My hair is bleached & coloured though - and also very fine/dead straight.

(Mind you the absolute best result for texture is if I swim in the sea & shower carefully after to get rid of the sand but not rinse all the salt water out!)

Which techniart pli do you use Seven? There seems to be a few different ones.

Thanks for the replies Smile
I'm thinking of stopping using conditioner to see if it helps to dry it up a bit Grin.
I was trying to grow it a bit because my colour is really nice (modest) but it just looked flat and boring, so the clippers came back out tonight.

Superdrug Hair Clay. Lovely texture, very cheap and wards off greasiness a treat.

AliceLittle · 02/10/2019 21:10

Yes, use less conditioner. I used to bleach and my hair was ok, if a little dry. Since the grow out my hair is a lot greasier. So I now only condition my hair once a week and the rest of the week (2/3 washes) I only use shampoo. Feels less greasy and my hair is in no worse condition for using less.

I use "got to be" beach Matt paste

I use the bedhead texture gum I think it's called. Comes in a little round blue pot, lasts me ages! I also struggle with texture but mostly with body. It quite often looks flat unfortunately

Your hairstyle sounds ace. I have fine hair in a short cut and it went through a limp stage a while back; my hairdresser suggested reducing conditioner for a while and it did help. I also use a ‘plumping’ shampoo for devitalised hair, which is really good.

I use Aveda hair waxes - a light one for when my hair is a tad longer and a firmer hold wax when it’s shorter. There’s only about a centimetre difference between these two stages, but when you have very short hair it does make a difference!

I have very thick hair and wear it short at sides and back with longer top and long asymmetrical fringe. It's coloured blonde with purple slashes. it's cut with a razor.
If I want it softer I blow dry with a mousse.
If I want it choppier I dry with added gel.
Either way, it's then broken up a bit with some gel.
Give it a spray with Elnette and don't look at it again all day.
I'm 70 but still like funky hair.

V05 matte clay- used it for years and it works all day- I like my hair scruffy Grin

Cocolapew · 03/10/2019 07:39

Thank you Awkward, I'm definitely going to stop the conditoner and maybe change my shampoo .
Thanks everyone, I'm going to have a poke and a smell (!) of the ones as suggested.
Life's too short to have boring hair LadyB49 🙂
