Best make it yourself conditioner recipe?

I want to buy fewer plastic bottles and I've tried and failed to find a hair conditioner bar that is usable and quite frankly it's expensive buying them and finding they're rubbish. Does anyone have a recipe for a DIY conditioner? I have long hair, very normal, I'm not allergic to anything. Would be grateful for any ideas.

i used to use apple cider vinegar diluted with water, and add 2 drops of lavender oil into it. I would use the conditioner before shampoo in the shower as i found it made my hair more glossy, and every 7ish days (or every time my hair felt a little dry) and rubbed some coconut oil on the ends. i have since switched to a conditioner for curly hair as my curls needed definition, but it works great on dd1s straight hair still!

ooh, thank you sleep. Do you just use it like you would normal conditioner or sort of rinse it through? (I'm clueless and can't really imagine using a conditioner of a different consistency). My hair is straight so this could do the trick....

Drop of vinegar or lemon juice in rinsing water each time you wash will make the cuticles lie flat (so hair feels silky, not rough, doesn’t tangle). This is the main thing a normal conditioner does for your hair. It also has some oils etc for condition, but there’s another way to do that.

Then once a week, use a oil treatment for the deeper condition of the hair. I use a 50/50 mix of jojoba and castor oil, applied to dry hair, lengths only not roots. Leave on under a towel or shower cap for 2-3 hours or over night (if DH is away) then shampoo out (usually takes two rounds of shampooing). Followed by vinegar/lemon juice rinse. Usually I buy the oils from Fushi, who use glass bottles and who have recently switched from plastic to metal bottle caps.

i soaked my hair, applied it, waited 2-3 minutes then rinsed off, so how you would normally use conditioner x
