Calling all generously-endowed women - advice needed on tops!

I'm a generous size 16 cos of my boobs (HUGE!) and need advice on work tops. I am a skirt/boots/top person and need some tops for the autumn that would flatter my hugely curvaceous shape without being too revealing in fabric or style (I teach). Please help! - I dread buying tops but can't put it off for much longer... (Back to work in three weeks...)

PS - can't afford really expensive stuff (thinking of sister who buys all her work clothes from Hobbs )

As a journalist, working in magazine office full of expensively clad colleagues, I do the opposite and hope that my nork display will distract and compensate for the rest of my clothes

Blimey.

When you're middle aged, will you be going for a pneumatic porn star boob job, to combat the crepe-y years?

Bouquetsofdynomite · 12/08/2007 21:46

Tall ranges ought to be long enough to go over your bust and still cover your tummy button.
This would show off your waist.
This is just gorgeous.

If that was directed at me, on account of me being 44 and all, my cleavage is pretty damn fine and uncrepey, as it happens. I have nice norks.

Thank you all for the advice! I will print this thread off and take it clothes shopping

Sorry not to report in last night, Cod - had to go and be good RL wifey. Will experiment with jackets - have had some good single button ones in past but costs a fortune to get sleeves shortened! If only I'd listened to my Mum and learned to sew...

Already go to Bravissimo - dream longingly of R & P bras but Bravissimo hoik 'em up and hold them in so there we go...And matching pants - I wish ! M & S five packs, thank you very much.

Bravissimo have got their vest tops with the hidden bra at half price right now- in selected colours. Bought a pink one on saturday and very impressed with it. Reduced to £17 from £35!

Hi,

Ive had problems getting stuff to fit my FFs for years so I have just started a new clothing line for big boobs that you may all be interested in. We launch in Feb 2008 and if you e mail me at [email protected], I will keep a note of your e mail and e mail you nearer launch with a voucher for a discount.

At the moment, Im looking for fitting models in Manchester and North Yorkshire - waist sizes 10-18, cup sizes E-G. No photos, just trying stuff on and see how it fits. Free clothes on offer!

I hope you can help - e mail me if interested.

Thanks ladies and remember - if you've got it, Flaunt It!

I agree with all the advice here (I seem to have ballooned to a 32 FF recently ), v-necks are best IMO and plain tops (wish I could remember this one myself I keep buying tops with fancy bits and then regretting it as I look so top heavy in them). Absolutely nothing that hangs from the norks and doesn't go back in again at the waist.

I'm going to mail you FlauntIt, your idea sounds good.

elkiedee · 04/09/2007 23:11

For tops I find most of the ones I like best come from Dorothy Perkins. I can't remember the name of the type of neckline but it curves rather than being a V. The tops aren't too baggy and shapeless but they don't cling annoyingly as many do. I was a size 14/38DD before pregnancy, and seem to have got a little bigger there even though I couldn't continue breastfeeding and I've lost a few pounds - these tops, first found just before or at very beginning, worked fine throughout my pregnancy and still do.

MrsSpoon · 04/09/2007 23:22

Sweetheart neck, elkidee? That's what I'm wearing at the moment, that also works. Don't tend to go into Dotty P's but will keep that in mind next time I'm passing.

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 04/09/2007 23:28

I own loads of vest tops to put underneath v-neck and wrap tops

ProjectIcarusinhercar · 05/09/2007 00:18

I like a lowish scoop neck in preference to a v tbh. Seems to be most flattering.
