Big feet ugly shoes

My feet are a size 9.5, where can I get stylish shoes that don't cost the earth. I used to be able to regularly get shoes on the high street but am finding more and more shops have stopped stocking them and the choice is getting limited. I don't want to have to look online every time I want a new pair, I enjoy going to a shop and trying a pair of shoes on and being able to buy them there and then. Evans has always stocked large sizes but all the shoes are chunky and low
And quite frankly I find frumpy and ugly. I want something fashionable. Any other big foots like me know where to shop.

I have the same problem - but no answer it sucks!

Gigimum · 29/09/2019 07:48

Why has everywhere stopped selling them. I used to regularly get shoes in Debenhams, Next, etc. But now it's all on line. Dorothy Perkins does occasional have some in store but they always seem to be a small fit. I know loads of women with size 9 feet, why are we not being catered for on the high street anymore

Grim isn’t it, my 14yo recently went into size 9, which isn’t so bad except all size 9s that you can get are really wide and she is a C fitting.
I’m a size 10 and I tend to shop at Magnus, but they are so expensive! LTS used to be good when they had shops but now they are on line their shoes have gone wide too.

AuntieMarys · 29/09/2019 07:51

I am a proper 9/43...Next, Clarks and anywhere else on the high street are too small. Evans etc too wide for me.
So I shop online at Katie Long, Charles Clinkard ( Gabor), After 8, Duo, Long Tall Sally.
Actual shops..Magnus and Crispins in Chiltern St London. Both do online too. Clinkard do a very small selection of 9s in store and tend to be the fugly ones.
Crispins are my favourite but very expensive. However they last for years.

BillywilliamV · 29/09/2019 08:10

AuntieMarys Is that 9 and 3 quarters,

Harry Potter Feet Grin

BillywilliamV · 29/09/2019 08:13

The LTS in Chiltern Street has closed though, don’t think it will be too long till the shoe shops follow.
I have been shopping there for 40 years, it was like paradise the first time I went at 16. I’d lived in Scotland before then, brown brogue school shoes for 6 years, still makes me want to cry just thinking about it.

Mummybares · 29/09/2019 08:18

Longtallsally ?

Trainers are in fashion, trainers with everything!

Phwooooar · 29/09/2019 08:19

As AuntyMarys said I mainly go to Crispins and they are expensive. For online there is also Toms which I only found out about recently. Casual stuff mainly but have some really nice boots etc

myidentitymycrisis · 29/09/2019 08:30

I know it’s not relevant to the actual problem of no shops but I second getting Toms, and other American brands and trainers online. I’m a mere 8 / 8.5 and not all 8’s are created equal.

thedevilinablackdress · 29/09/2019 08:31

What type of footwear are you after? As PP mentioned, trainers with everything are in at the moment, as are DMs and both of those would be ok size wise.

Gigimum · 29/09/2019 08:51

I love heels, always have, trainers not a problems as can get men's. I also want some boots that are practical for cold weather and watching my son at football matches. Don't want to have to wear men's boots or wellies

Honestly walking boots work best for winter touch line mornings

HennyPennyHorror · 29/09/2019 11:56

I don't mean to offend...I've got size 8s myself. But have you thought about looking in the specialist shops online for men who like to wear heels?

Drag Queen shoes?

BillywilliamV · 29/09/2019 14:21

Most of us with big feet are tall and drag queens tend to have wide feet and favour at least 5 inch heels.
I am a bit offended actuallyHmm

HennyPennyHorror · 29/09/2019 14:44

Billy Well I've got big feet also so I felt qualified to mention it. I've thought of it myself...my feet are big and wide. What's the problem anyway? Shoes made for men who impersonate women are the same as shoes for women....just bigger. If you've got big feet which are narrow then fair enough. But I don't.

AuntieMarys · 29/09/2019 14:44

There used to be a shop in London called Elephant Feet in the 90s. Didn't last 🤣

Zinnia · 29/09/2019 16:17

I just found out today courtesy of Kate Hiscox/Wearsmymoney on Instagram that Air & Grace do pricey but lovely boots (and trainers) up to a 43. I can't afford them but it's heartening to see an independent brand catering for a size 9!

Mummybares · 29/09/2019 16:34

The thing about an online forum is anyone can say im x and im y...Hmm

Have you even seen what drag shoes look like? Hint: Caricature stripper not what 99% of women actually wear everyday.

Mummybares · 29/09/2019 16:36

Was it really necessary to share that Marie?
Talk about taking the piss...

littleblackdress26 · 05/10/2019 13:29

Hi try amazon I've just received my boots this morning and they fit! I'm soo happy and they didn't cost the earth I ordered an 11 to make sure because mine are 9 1/2 bordering on 10 plus they are wide. There was the odd review from men so I knew they would fit I bought knee length flat ruched boots but there were lots of normal everyday boots as well. Good luck

kittlesticks · 05/10/2019 13:41

Size 9 narrow feet here. Get mine from James Inglis but they cost the earth.
