Lightweight waterproof

Evening all!
I’m looking for a lightweight, stylish, waterproof jacket if anyone can help?! I’ve been looking on various websites (next, superdry, m&s, topshop, north face) but can’t find anything.
I currently have a superdry jacket but the lining is too sweaty 😳 it’s shiny polyester.
I just want something i can throw under the pram when I’m not using it.
I’m early 30s, not particularly stylish, normally wear jeans and pumps or boots.
Thanks all!

I got mine from mountain warehouse, lots of great lightweight raincoats and not too pricey

AnotherEmma · 27/09/2019 22:29

Seasalt?

This is lightweight for autumn or spring and has non-sweaty lining.

The idea of a stylish waterproof is lost on me, so I don't know if this is what you meant!

Thenotes · 27/09/2019 22:33

A "stylish" waterproof will be neither on thing or the other. Give up and get one from a proper outdoor brand that will do the job. Berghaus or North Face

Wellhellothere101 · 27/09/2019 22:35

Protected Species are the best waterproof jackets I've tried.

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 27/09/2019 22:40

For non sweaty waterproofs try outdoors shops. High Street have blacks/millets or mountain warehouse. More expensive brands include north face/ rab/ patagonia/ mountain equipment/ arcteryx.
Or maybe you're thinking more of a wax jacket? Or the equestrian style?
High Street fashion shops like next don't really do technical/ functional clothing.

PinkDaydreams · 27/09/2019 22:44

I’ve heard of sea salt but not looked at the site.
I think I want something with a bit of shape of drawstring rather than something that looks like a binbag!

I think it’ll be an outdoorsy shop I need then. God I hate shopping!!

Well it's all subjective but I don't think these look like bin bags

Rains? Lightweight, and as stylish as you get with a waterproof. And actually waterproof! No drawstrings though I think.

boringisasboringdoes · 27/09/2019 23:10

Regatta (Debenhams/mountain warehouse)

nitgel · 27/09/2019 23:16

Sorry for long link

Depends how much you want to spend but I've just splashed out on a woman's Patagonia Torrentshell. Amazing jacket! So lightweight you can hardly feel it when it's on but super waterproof and comes in lots of different colours.

It is nipped in at the waist and moves beautifully with your body. Not bin bag-gy at all. Much more flattering irl than in photos. Made from sustainable fabric from an ethical company too.

I really like this Patagonia one too but couldn't be doing with maintaining the white fabric. https://www.surfdome.com/Patagonia-Skyforest-Parka-Womens-Jacket/sd50144967.htm?colour=Surfboard+Yellow&sku=788742&productid=217663&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoJHenojy5AIVFODtCh1DAQ6EAQYEiABEgJPZZDBwE

Matalan... I just bought a lovely one there! Only £30 as well!

inappropriateraspberry · 27/09/2019 23:53

Trespass do some good coats. I've got a lovely warm winter coat from them and am eyeing up a lightweight waterproof (pastime design). They also do pack away macs as well which will fold up small - lots of them have drawstrings! Or joules do a waterproof in loads of colours/designs.

PinkDaydreams · 28/09/2019 02:59

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I’ll have a nosey at them all when I’m properly awake Grin

I also got mine at mountain warehouse Found a light grey standard thing. It's not lined, it's water proof, and doesn't have a terrible plastic feel, it's breathable. It was marked down by about £100 to£50 so I felt I was getting a reasonable product. It's weightier than a pacamac, properly substantial for the job, but very light.

Always sigh at these threads every year, loads every week. Hate the word stylish, it's meaningless and so subjective. For me, there's nothing less stylish than someone dressed inappropriately for the weather, and that's it.

My offering would be Aigle, rarely mentioned on here, but they do attempt to offer waterproof coats suited to an urban environment. Not cheap, but my one (similar to the Brokfielder on the link) is at least five years old and still going strong.

I've got a lovely waterproof coat from Weirdfish.

PinkDaydreams · 28/09/2019 08:35

I like the striped lining on the weirdfish jacket, it’s lovely

I have a Peter Stome light pack in mack

www.millets.co.uk/womens/116866-peter-storm-womens-parka-in-a-pack-camo.html

Unlike other brands I've had it does actually keep you dry when it totally tips it down. The longer length it's great and folds up small so fits in a bag. They have had nicer styles before, I've got the purple one. Would recommend on quality though. Best to go for an actual outdoor make not a fashion brand.

AnotherEmma · 28/09/2019 08:53

I'd never heard of weirdfish - just looked and I like some (not all) of their stuff, good prices too! I've ordered a couple of things. Found a discount code: AM19FT

Another vote for Protected Species. Love mine.
