Gosh, I've just inadvertently gone 'Curly Girl'

I'm on holiday currently, and my hair has been a nightmare.

At home, I have to straighten it every day, for it to look half decent, but in the hot weather it's just a frizzy mess.

In despair, I bought some leave in conditioner / mask, not really sure exactly what it is as my French is a bit rusty.

But wow, I now have some curly beach hair and it's so easy to manage.

I washed with hotel shampoo, towel dried, put a blob of this conditioner on, scrunch dried blasted- with the hairdryer and my hair looks fab.

Not exactly the curly girl method, but the results look so good. I've stocked up with 3 more bottles, 200ml for 1.58EUR each.

Just hoping I can find something similar in the UK when my supply runs out.

It's Labell leave in conditioner with Shea butter and macadamia, smells divine and I can't see any sulphates or parabens in the ingredients. Disclaimer, my French is not that good.

Picture for anyone who can get to the forrin shops. Looks like a cheap french supermarket toiletries brand.

I love CGM! I keep trying it and then getting bored and giving up, but the most recent time I've tried it, (still doing it now), I've had some lovely compliments about my hair. I also know a woman who does it and she looks fantastic. So I'm trying to stick with it. Balls to bloody straighteners! Hate them*.

*just on my own hair I mean, of course.

Malt24 · 26/09/2019 14:34

Tallulah, I'm hoping to keep it up when I get back home.

I'm fed up of having to use straighteners all the time too, and would love to find a wash and wear style for every day.

And I may have to research curly girl properly (and ditch the hairdryer).

There are loads of S&B threads to trawl on here, and down the rabbit hole that is Pinterest, so it may take a while!

There is a great FB group called Curly Girl UK, loads of tips and info. I do get hair envy on there though!

Malt24 · 26/09/2019 14:43

Thanks Glitch, I will check that out. Smile

You have to play with it till you find a method that works for you. The CGM doesn't make mine into soft curls.
I make a 50/50 mix of cocomut oil and pure shea butter, pull it through my hair and put it in a pinapple do overnight. Then wash out with Boots cheapy Coconut and Amond conditioner never shampoo and then use Pantene with the green label (dammge reapir one maybe?) conditioner after. Mine doesn't seem to get a build up of anything.
I have friends who just shampoo and condition and leave.
For winter I'm getting a metal sieve so I can dry it a bit as it takes too long to dry. Works better than a diffuser I'm told.

Troels, I'm very happy with how it looks now. Back in the UK climate it may be another matter. So enjoying how fuss-free it is, as I hate the usual faff and prefer low-maintenance every time!

Any chance of a before and after pic OP?
I started it accidentally once but it didn't really work. I keep going in and out of CG, keen to do it properly but I'm too lazy. I'm a wash and go then drop dry type with thick wavy shoulder length hair. I'm also currently bleaching a bit so I'm wondering if I'd have lovely hair if I went natural darker again.

gubbsywubbsy · 26/09/2019 19:45

It may be the water , my curly in England hair hates being on holiday .. can we see a pic though? 🤗🤗

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 21:10

The picture too unclear to see many words but I think it's Argan oil something

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 21:11

Shea butter and Argan oil conditioner

LemonPrism · 26/09/2019 21:12

Try this when you come home: wowglamo.com/organix-argan-oil-shea-butter-conditioner-13oz/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwfaKlabv5AIVms13Ch08-g3TEAQYBCABEgLqKfD_BwE

They sell it in most boots and Sainsbury's

Monst3ra · 26/09/2019 21:18

I'm almost a year in. My hair is more wavy than curly so I don't always get curly curls but the condition of my hair has improved greatly which has has kept me going.

Malt24 · 27/09/2019 00:40

Owls and gubbsy, I will try and post pics when back in the UK.

Lemon, thank you, nice to know there is an alternative when my stocks do run out. Smile

Monst3ra, my hair is more wavy than curly. I'd like to see the condition improve, too much use of the hairdryer and straighteners does not help.

Here are some images downloaded, to give you an idea, they are not of me.

First photo, how it looks after going to the hairdresser. Only good on the day it is done, I can never manage to replicate this at home.

Second photo, if I style it myself, but only on a very, very good day. And never if it is warm or humid.

Third photo, similar to the curly girl style I managed to do yesterday. And it was pretty painless, took five minutes and felt soft and bouncy.

I wouldn't dare show you the frightful frizzy mess my hair gets in with the heat and humidity. Blush

On a bit of a tangent but I got my GHD glide yesterday and it takes my rough dried hair about 30 seconds to straighten

Malt24 · 27/09/2019 17:05

onioncrumble, do you have naturally frizzy hair?

After 15 years of 'going straight' Grin I am finally embracing my natural curl and working with it, rather than against it. My lovely straightened hair goes horribly frizzy in the heat and humidity. Not a good look!
