Dry skin - do I need to double cleanse?

I currently take make up off with a micellar cleanser. Do I need to double cleanse? My skin is actually alright, I'm mid 30s, dry skin, bit of a red forehead, some crow's feet coming. What do you think? Would a double cleanse be beneficial for me?? Any recommendations? Thanks!

PS sorry if this has been asked before, I did do a lot of searching before posting but mostly found people with oily skin

I have dry skin and I use Micellar to take my make up off followed by a more balmy cleanser. I don't really consider the cleansing part to have any contribution to skins moisture, more about getting rid of product and cleaning your skin.

In terms of keeping my moisturised I love hyralonic acid and vit c and a glycolic acid to keep the skin exfoliate.

Thanks @kmini - thats why I'm not sure about double cleansing, I hardly wear any makeup so I'm sure the first cleanse is taking the little bit that I use off. Quite happy with my serum and moisturiser and exfoliator which I think have the things you mentioned, those are all recent Mumsnet inspired purchases Grin I like the idea of an extra skincare product I think mainly because I love skincare! Balm sounds nice. Maybe I just need to give one a go and see if it improves my skin?

I only double cleanse if I wear makeup or suncream (not facial spf but actual suncream) - I stopped using micellar water as I didn’t want to use cotton wool pads anymore. I use an oil based balm cleanser if I need to remove makeup then a cream type cleanser with a hot flannel.

Have a look on YouTube for Susan Yara/Mixed Makeup. She does really informative videos reviewing other people’s skin care routines. Lot of info about when to double cleanse and what products to use. I’ve learned lots that way and my skin is so much better now.

My skin has been quite dry recently so I have been avoiding the micellar water and using Clinique take the day off balm instead, my skin instantly feels better

I’d dump the micellar, it strips my skin something chronic.

I have very dry, dehydrated skin and micellar water makes it worse.

I either use Superfacialist oil or Take the Day Off balm, with a creamy cleanser next (currently Alpha H). Acid toner twice a week, and I use Clarins oil daily and then Kiehls moisturiser once that’s settled in.

@DontFundHate
I have the same as you I think. I'm 30, had really dry skin and redness. I use a squalane cleanser which is amazing. And also use hyaluronic acid and the natural moisturizing factors cream by the ordinary. At night, I use the B oil. My skin is dramatically different after a month of doing that.
I use a few other products for the pigmentation and texture issues, but the ones above are for targeting the dryness.

I read an article by a famous (allegedly) famous make up artist and skin care specialist who said that if you are routinely using more than 4 products, preferably 3,then you'll be over stressing the skin, it may not happen immediately but most people who come to him use way too many products which can cause red dry skin.

I'd ditch the miccelair water and use something balmy. I use TBS cammomile balm.

Anyone used the elemis cleansing balm? So tempted by that!

I had no idea micellar wasn't great for dry skin thanks for that, only just started using it so will see

I love the Elemis balm, rub in, add water to make it milky and then rinse off. Or rub in and remove with a warm cloth. Best place to buy is QVC, or look on eBay, no need to pay full Elemis prices for it. The rose one has a gentler fragrance than the original.
