Semi permanent dye for greying dark brown hair

I am in my 40's and have more and more grey appearing. Not too bad but definitely there. I don't want it!
I have fine hair which is terrifying as I keep dreaming it is all falling out.
Used Holland and Barret hair colour which looks lovely but makes my hair feel a little brittle.
Thought about a semi permanent colour for no ammonia so kinder? Any recommendations for brands and colours. I want a dark brown but not overly dark as it ages me a little.

I use the Superdrug own brand , easy to use , lasts pretty well . I was dubious about a Semi-P washing out too quick but it fades and no demarcation line (unlike the permenant dyes where I had root growth lines)

Colours are limited though. I have mid/dark brown hair with grey . I use the 7.73(Rich Honey Brown) which comes out a lot darker than the colour swatch , sometimes I mix it with a 5.4 or a 6.0 to make it richer .
(I use two bottles anyway)

Worth a try ?

If anyone suggest Henna , it is lovely , conditions well but its a faff to apply , messy to rinse off , has to grow out , you need to be really careful what you apply after - some dyes will react with henna . Colour can be unpredictable .
I used Lush henna for a couple of years when my hair was Pixie length. Thought about going back to it , my DD said "Do you really want to go through all that palaver "?
Erm, no .

I use castings creme gloss semi-permanent hair dye.
Chocolate brownie is a lovely colour.
Black cherry has a slight red tinge to it which is a good colour on brown hair too.

When I do my hair the grey hairs go a slightly different colour to the rest of my hair when dyed and it looks like highlights. So you don’t get that mono block colour.

I developed an allergy to hair dye so had to stop using it which with my amount of grey wasn't a good thing.
I tried henna but like the previous poster it was such a faff and the results weren't always great. Then I discovered this Italian conditioner. No nasties in it, so no burning scalp and so easy to use. No mixing just stick it on, leave for 30mins and rinse off. It lasts about 4 weeks before I have to do the roots again. I love it. Haven't seen it in any shops but amazon have the full range of colours and a bottle does about 5 applications on my hair which is about bra strap length.

I used Castings Chocolate Brownie for years, but recently changed to Nutrisse Dark Golden Brown, as the Castings was drying my hair out.

Pleased with the Nutrisse so far. It’s a warm, dark brown and my hair feels less dry after using.

Tints of Nature do a permanent with no ammonia, it doesn't damage hair as much. I used it for years, they come up a bit darker I would try a mid brown 4n or even light brown 5n. I'm having trouble with it covering my grey at moment but even had that with salon colour so think it's just me. They also do a semi permanent with no peroxide or ammonia I would try that first if you've only got a few greys. You can mix colours see their website for how to.
