Tragus piercing

Anyone had this done? I have two holes in each earlobe but none others. Had my belly button done years ago but it grew out.

Any advice / tips for a tragus piercing? I’ve looked online and lots of people are saying it’s really painful!

I had it done and had to take it out after about 6 weeks it was just too sore! I have other piercings (ears x2, belly button x2 and nipple) but this was by far the most painful, not getting done that part was easy.
I followed all the advice for keeping it clean, leaving it alone but it just throbbed all the time!
I was gutted when I took it out but the relief was immediate.

Not painful at all the only thing a bit odd is sometimes you hear a squeak as the needle goes through.

Iv had both done but a different times and out of all my piercings 16 of which are in my ears, they were one of the easiest to have done and the easiest and quickest to heal.

For a couple of days after each of them there was a bit of an ache when I lay on the pillow on that side and they felt slightly hot if the cold wind hit them.

Eek, two very conflicting experiences there! I kind of think out of everyone that has them done, the odds are that it’ll be fine and not sore. If it does end up sore, I guess I just have to take it out.

The initial piercing is fine, quick wince and it's done.

I have had it done 3 times and all three it just didn't heal properly so I had to take them out. I cleaned them, left them alone, followed all the rules but they just don't take with me. Gutted because they do look really nice, I think.

ElizaPancakes · 21/09/2019 23:22

I have one, it was no more painful than any other piercing for me, healed quickly and well. Because it kind of pushes into your ear rather than into the side of your head like other piercings I found it was easy to sleep on.

Mine was a little ouchy for the first few days but it’s been okay since. Wasn’t particularly painful to pierce.

HappyGirlNow · 22/09/2019 09:37

I had it done but eventually had to remove it. I persevered for months but it just wouldn't heal, was always oozing and in fact blocked my ear up which took months after removal to clear, I could hardly hear out of that ear. Was very disappointing as I really like them! 🙁

I think any piercing is pretty specific pain wise to the person having it done. None of mine have hurt (helix, daith, conch) but one has played up afterwards - see my current thread!

Honestly though it is over in seconds - the painful bit for me has been the ring being put in afterwards.

My new top tip is to go for a ring first as it seems to help avoid the tightness from swelling.

Bobthefishermanswife · 22/09/2019 09:58

I found it no more painful then my helix, conch or daith. It was the pop sound as the needle went through that got me more, was a really odd noise. As for healing, it healed really well, just a bit hot to touch when cleaning, no more sensitive than any others.

I second @Noeuf with the pain being individually specific as everyone has a different threshold.

QueenTaTe · 22/09/2019 10:28

Mine didn't hurt. I found my nose one more painful. Does take a while to heal though.

SouthWestmom · 22/09/2019 10:29

Currently I am debating a reverse tragus as I don't want Tragus next to my daith it forward helix.

Babyblue12 · 23/09/2019 09:21

Yes I agree about pain being subjective. I’m not worried about it hurting when it’s done, I’ve just read a lot about people having problems after.

Great point about having a ring first, thanks.

Dd said her tragus was fine, I think outside helix is more susceptible tbh - catching, hair, dirt etc.

ElizaPancakes · 23/09/2019 12:50

Agree with @Noeuf - incidentally my outside helix has been done twice and both times after a few months I took them out. Never stopped hurting and never healed.

SouthWestmom · 23/09/2019 13:42

Same - first one got infected as did second

Writersblock2 · 23/09/2019 14:19

@Noeuf - I’m debating on a reverse Teague too. Mine is quite prominent so it should look good. I’m trying to get rid of a bump on the top forward helix on the opposite ear first though. Tried soaks, tea tree, salt, everything. I think patience might be the key.

Writersblock2 · 23/09/2019 14:19

*tragus - blasted auto!

SouthWestmom · 23/09/2019 14:28

Ooh I've been lucky not to get bumps so I can't help. Warm compress and massage?
