Thunderpants alternatives

From a recommendation on here a good couple of years ago I bought some Thunderpants (hipster style) which I absolutely loved - I have a curvy, round bum and I've always struggled with getting knickers that stay in place. I like them to curve underneath the butt cheeks rather than skimming up/across - I like to feel that I'm contained! This means that they also needs to have a wider than average gusset.

The Thunderpants were great - fitted perfectly, didn't ride up at all so didn't budge all day, and were nice thick organic cotton. However they are expensive - around £14 each at the moment - and I need a good few pairs, plus they don't have a UK arm anymore so have to ship them from NZ.

The few pairs I had have all now fallen apart from over use...does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried so many pairs from M&S, Gap, Sloggi etc and they are all too skimpy and not wide enough. And I literally can't bear to wear them if they ride up as it irritates me so much!

Those Thunderpants look amazing. I want some.

I hear you! I live in New Zealand and have loved my thundies but I started to dislike the prints -a bit childlike.
Probably not helpful as I am not sure about shipping but I have just bought some Nisa undies. NZ made by a company that employs refugee woman.
They are the same price as thunderpants but you can get 5 for price of 4. They are helpful with sizing too.

I love thunderpants! It's all I wear, and for exactly the same reasons as you op. I did worry when tpuk closed but I have about 12 pairs with only the oldest starting to age. There's also a TP base in the USA. I'm planning on aNY trip at some point and am looking at how I can order them to be delivered to my hotel while there! I wonder if they have the import agreement that some companies have, if so then were can order from NZ. I think most of the designs are ridiculous but most of my stock is block black red or blue. I do have the space and cowgirl designs though, and something like cherry blossom, the blues whales. Love them all!

Try molke, they're mostly known for their bras but their knickers are pretty good too

Not even the sloggi shorts?

morrisseysquif · 21/09/2019 23:55

They seem to have a uk website but no products yet.....

morrisseysquif · 21/09/2019 23:55

I mean Thunderpants...

badhairallthetime · 22/09/2019 09:26

@morrisseysquif I tried the sloggi shorts and they also rid up. I might have needed a bigger size though, but then think they would have been baggy around the bum.

My theory is that its all to do with the width of the gusset (hate that word) - if its too narrow there is just not enough width around the cheeks. I'm constantly stopping in shops to check gusset width and then discarding them with a look of disgust Grin The only half decent ones I found recently were from Primark actually and they a bit granny and are not wearing very well. Plus their sizing seems really off? Normally a 10 ish but I had to get XS and even those are a bit big. Really just want plain black cotton hipsters that stay put!

The UK website must still be up from when they did have a UK page...I think it stopped being operational couple of years ago.

I'll check out the other brands mentioned, but I think I might just have to bite the bullet and order from TP, but I want at least 5 pairs so it will be expensive.

Thanks.

You want Scrundies. Various sellers on Etsy. They are also fairly pricey tbf, between £10 - £15 per pair. Or if you can sew, you can get the pattern from Stitchuponatime and make your own!
