Are they in Australian sizes? Would have thought if they're selling them here then they would have UK sizing?

paulaplumpbottom · 10/08/2007 18:49

They are a bit passe' aren't they

incy · 10/08/2007 20:06

I am also a bit passe so suits me.

Anyone owned a pair and care to enlighten me?

Just had a look at mine and there is no permanent sizing on them. I assume they had a tag on them with the size info.
I'm not sure what question you are actually asking. What size should you buy - I would say buy the size that fits you!
If you are buying online then buy the size shoe you normally buy...
This can't be what you mean ...

incy · 13/08/2007 13:02

Many apologies - I am not being very clear - Uggs have australian women's sizes on the label inside and I have had conflicting advice from shop and internet whether australian sizes are one or two sizes bigger than the UK - I am a UK 6 so not sure if I should get an australian W7 or W8.

Would try on in the shop but their latest deliverys have all sold out (we are all clearly very passe in the Southampton area !).

Solved the problem by ordering both the 7 and 8 and will see which fits better.

I was just wondering if anyone else has Uggs and could tell me if the size inside was a size or two sizes bigger than their UK size.

Australoian sizes are 1.5 sizes larger than UK sizes, hence the confusion. I'm a size 5 here, size 38 in europe and a 7.5 in Aus.
Sounds like you've covered your bases though!

incy · 13/08/2007 18:00

1.5 size difference - so that is why I keep getting conflicting info ! Thanks for the help - guess I'll just have to try them and see. Thanks again.

i bought a size up from my regular size and they are ok

SweetyDarling · 13/08/2007 18:17

They're so soft I doubt it will be an issue one way or the other!

Scootergrrrl · 13/08/2007 18:30

I bought two sizes above my normal size so a 5 when I'm a 3. The buggers are still too big but mega comfortable!

sugarmatches · 13/08/2007 19:14

If you are buying the UGG Australia brand (the most popular brand) they are an American company and not an Australian company. They just add the OZ name to boost sales, but they are based in California.
Go up 2 sizes, ie: a UK 6 is a US 8.

incy · 13/08/2007 19:46

Thanks everyone this is all very useful - sugarmatches I am buying the Ugg brand so interesting to learn they are American sizes inside ! I am a UK 5.5

OP posts:
incy · 13/08/2007 19:49

I am a 5.5 and so will be best to try 7 and 8. Thanks everyone.

im a size 7uk and bought direct from the ugg store they have a size/price conversion on there for you. and they have a sale on at mo!!!

sugarmatches · 13/08/2007 20:52

That site is UGG boots, but not the trendy UGG Australia brand.
If you are not particularly fashion conscious then it would really matter I guess.
I have 2 pairs of UGGs and I love them. I am a UK 6 and wear a US 8 and they fit very well.

sugarmatches · 13/08/2007 20:53

And I meant to say that I would try a size 7 if I were you.

smeeinit · 13/08/2007 21:16

that site is UGG AUSTRALIA,white label, original ugg. the UGGS with the brown labels are from UGG AUSTRALIA also who originally when first produced several years ago also had the white label, the americans bought the company a couple of years back,(which is when the celebs started wearing them!) and gave them a brown label.
i know my UGGS!!!

sugarmatches · 14/08/2007 11:51

I certainly know my Uggs as well. I had a friend who was an employee.

please read...

www.uggaustralia.com/About/history.aspx

UGG were never in Australia, but the founder came from Australia to LA.

Now UGG boots have been popular in Oz for years, but Ugg is actually what the style is called, not the brand. There are many Australian companies that make and sell sheepskin Ugg boots. But sorry, the brand Ugg Australia has had the same tag (in different colours depending on the colour of the boot).
That site is an Australian Ugg boot, but NOT and was never in any way asscoiated with Ugg Australia.
I think many people in the UK look for these boots because they are hard to find and are disappointed when they see they are not the trendy brand.
Not trying to argue, just trying to avoid people getting disappointed.

incy · 14/08/2007 12:19

Well you will be pleased to know that they arrived and are the real mccoy (should be at the price) - went for the 7 as the 8 way too big.

Thanks again for all your help everyone and I am impressed with the knowledge of uggs you are showing !

incy · 14/08/2007 12:23

You have all cleared up a question I had in that I paid £130 for my uggs yet my dh found lots in Australia on the internet for about £40 equiv and couldn't understand why mine were so expensive !

OP posts:
smeeinit · 14/08/2007 14:02

pmsl @ sugar!

SweetyDarling · 14/08/2007 19:08

Yes incy, most Australia's find the idea Poms out and about in their expensive Ugg Boots very amusing.

laborthe · 15/10/2010 04:29

Welcome to www.bootro.com, the largest independent authorized online retailer of UGG Australia in the world.

savoycabbage · 15/10/2010 06:45

Smeeinit, that website is not Ugg Australia at all. It is an Australian website selling ugg boots. Which is fine, but it even SAS that it is not Ugg Australia/Deckers! This is Ugg Australia.

Also, I have two pairs of Ugg Boots bought from Ugg Australia in Australia at the Melbourne Central Concept store. They both have different colour labels on the back, depending on the colour of the boot. Here the dark brown, black and sand boots each have a different colour label.

The 'problem' is that here ugg boots are sheepskin boots, and some people just want the American Ugg Australia brand.

Emu boots are nicer.....here Not as clumpy.
