matted hair help

All summer in chlorinated pool, then I had accident (minor) at pool and spent two days in hospital. Result is the biggest clump of matted hair and I have googled, done everything.

Washed it, argan oil, tangle teased it. not one jot of difference.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I just go and see a hairdresser and can they even do anything?

Please help, I want to cry, only just got it back to long.

Ends and front are fine, it was where I was lying in bed.

Good luck. My DD used to get a clump at the back so easily when she younger. Loads of conditioner and patience and we got it out.

Once it’s sorted get a silk or satin pillowcase and sleep with it tied back in a soft scrunchie.

I sometimes put mine in two plaits like a squaw.

If I sleep with my hair loose it would tangle at the back.

Run a deep bath, get in, lie back so that your hair floats in water and is weightless. Then slowly prise the mat apart with your fingers. Lie on alternate sides if you get uncomfortable.

Well that was an experience I never want to repeat. But 4 hours later, I still have my long hair (although it feels half as thick now)

My hairdresser was cross about the olive oil and said it was for frying eggs. He also didn't really want to do the job I realised. But he did.
All the old Spanish ladies kept coming over and staring at me asking what was going on. I bloody hate Spain (a lot of the time) so nosy.

He also was incredulous that this happened in such a short space of time, as am I. But it did. No, hairdresser I didn't somehow deliberately do this to myself Hmm

Anyway, it's all over and thanks to all of you who gave me suggestions, I realised I had to get it done professionally, without that, in a couple of days I would have had to have had a cropped do. So thankyou from the bottom of my heart Flowers

Oh, and next summer, no pool. No way. DD will be old enough to entertain herself.

Wet brushes are incredible for getting through clumps.

I know your problem is solved now, but I just want to say I so feel your pain, I also live abroad and I DREAD going to the hairdresser (or anywhere I need to talk to people). Even though we have hairdressers whose main clientele are from outside the country, it still sucks.
