Do Mom jeans suit apple shapes?

I love these jeans, but not sure how they'll suit me.

Fwiw I'm a size 12/14, tall apple. Huge tummy post babies and c section. Large of nork, lean of leg.

I'd say no, because the jeans will hang off of your biggest part (tummy) and make your legs and bum look big, from what I gather sent slim line jeans better as they hug your bottom and slim legs so it gives the illusion of a smaller tummy (if you wear the correct clothes on top of course).
I'm a goblet shape so bigger up top than down below (bum legs slim) and I tend to wear jeans that show off my bum and legs, I then wear tops that show off my boobs and hope my tummy is disguised.

HappyGirlNow · 15/09/2019 12:30

No I wouldn't say do, sorry..

AbandonHopeDarr3n · 15/09/2019 12:33
Sad

I know you're right...

But I've just ordered some mom-esque Jean's from Gap anyway .

I'll report back!

No, if the waist fits you the hips will be standing out like a bell tent. (Personal experience ;) )

BusterGonad · 15/09/2019 13:02

I wear jeans that come right up to my waist, and our tight on bum, tum and legs, the high waist holds me in a bit and gives a smooth shape under tops.
I personally think bootcuts and flared jeans look good on apples and they balance out your shape, luckily they are becoming popular again!

BusterGonad · 15/09/2019 13:03

Are not our!

CSharpLemon · 15/09/2019 14:45

Mom jeans suit no one.
You do not need them!!!

NorthEndGal · 15/09/2019 14:48

Mom jeans work if you are flat of tummy, and booty blessed.
Otherwise , you look like a mom, hence the name.

DeletionMessage · 15/09/2019 16:00

I've seen lots of different shapes wear them and look fine but I agree, no for apples. They tend to suit hourglass figures, I think. I've a couple of pairs on order so will see! I love them. I've gone right off skinny jeans!

BusterGonad · 15/09/2019 16:30

I think I'm stuck in the past as the only jeans that look good are tight ones that hug the bum, hips and thighs. Any others are pointless imo! Grin

Ellapaella · 15/09/2019 19:12

I've gone right off skinny jeans too.. we only think they are the universally flattering jeans because we've got used to seeing nothing but skinny jeans since 2006!
They might suit you op.. you never know. See what you think when you get them as they vary so much in shape depending on where you get them from. Boyfriend jeans are a good option if you want something different, also have a try of girlfriend jeans - GAP and Levi's do a great range.

AbandonHopeDarr3n · 15/09/2019 21:21

Ellapaella the ones I have ordered are actually girlfriend jeans from Gap! Hope they suit.

Also sick of skinnies.

Depends on how confident you are with your figure as mom jeans will unfortunately highlight an apple shape, they’re not the sort of jeans that will make you look ‘more like an hourglass’ or nip your waist in or give you a nice bum etc. So it depends on how comfortable you feel.

Mom jeans look nicest on people with curvy hips/small waist imo

slidin · 16/09/2019 06:11

I'm a size 12 apple and have recently tried approx four thousand (ok maybe a slight exaggeration) pairs of girlfriend, boyfriend and mom jeans.

All hideous. Made my hips and stomach look enormous, and my legs look frumpy as fuck. Gave me a camel toe. I felt two dress sizes bigger than I am.

I've had to accept that my shape is just one which is better suited to skinnies.

If you are comfortable wearing clothing which is not flattering and makes you look bigger (and I mean that kindly - there's absolutely no need to dress to flatter if you don't want to. Wear what you love) then go for it. But I just looked really awful in them.

AbandonHopeDarr3n · 16/09/2019 09:15

Ugh how annoying slidin!

I know what you mean, and actually I don't always dress myself JUST to flatter iyswim. I like to look interesting rather than classic and pretty if that makes sense. However, like any rational person I absolutely draw the line at camel hoofs and looking really hideous! We'll see how these Gap numbers go. They are short turn up ones so maybe will show off a bit of leg, which might make a difference... I've ordered a v neck slouchy jumper to go over the top, for autumn, so people won't necessarily see the hips and waist portion.

I sound so desperate for them to look nice aren't I GrinGrinGrin?

Don't I*

Flipswhitefudge · 16/09/2019 09:17

They suit nobody!

BusterGonad · 16/09/2019 09:27

We've all been there op, the amount of things I've purchased kidding myself that they look good!
But you never know, they could look great on you? 🤞🏼

Yewtown · 16/09/2019 09:29

I'm a similar shape and I found M&S relaxed slim to work well.

BigusBumus · 16/09/2019 09:45

Im a similar shape and wear these from Next. They are slim fit, so are tightish on the hips and bottom and thighs, but high waisted enough to hold you in. Not flarey like boot-cut but not tight at the ankles like skinnies. Look great with loafers / driving shoes. And CHEAP! I can't tuck things in, so have to wear things hanging out to just past my hips, but these show my legs off well. I think a lot of shapes would look good in these actually.

Ellapaella · 16/09/2019 09:59

I agree with you op - you don't always necessarily need to dress to flatter yourself - sometimes it's ok to just wear what you like because you like it.

Sagradafamiliar · 16/09/2019 10:16

I'm a similar shape and find them so comfy, I think they look 'ok'- as acceptable as I'll ever look in jeans as my stomach isn't my best feature and never will be regardless of what I wear.
I look best in skinny jeans. I took a pair of the slim fit next jeans into a changing room once, size 10, right leg length and the assistant almost recoiled, saying 'no! No! No!' I said 'no? Why?' And she said 'you'll see'- she was right, they were gruesome on me. There's something about jeans. You have to throw rhyme and reason out of the window and try on all sorts of pairs.
I hope yours don't disappoint!

Sagradafamiliar · 16/09/2019 10:17

I meant to say: Gap jeans usually work well for me.
