The most moisturising serum in the world?

I'm 48 with very dry skin. My skin is craving a shot of pure moisture. I was thinking of getting the La Roche posay hyaluronic serum, has anyone tried this, or any other seriously moisturising serum?

layering helps
put on a moisturiser and let it sink in
then add a thicker cream (weleda skin food is great, or nivea blue pot)

MorrisZapp · 15/09/2019 11:00

Yip, I do this. My top layer is embryolisse lait concentree. I tried nivea but it irritated my skin, which was weird because I've never had reactions before.

I use the squalane ordinary cleanser, then an acid. Once dry a serum packed in by rosehip or argan oil. I also use embryolisse as a make up primer post spf.

I use oils and my favourite is coconut oil. Really moisturises and is good for skin too.

Kinvara rosehip serum is unbelievable stuff!! I use it on its own or with oil or moisturiser.

Fresta · 15/09/2019 13:13

Try clinique moisture surge underneath your regular moisturiser. It's cheaper and much more hydrating than a serum.

incognitomum · 15/09/2019 13:16

Have you tried ceramide cream? I got the one from tkmax everyone raves about. It's amazing.

Try a watery essence/lotion rather than something oily/heavy and pat a few layers into your skin before your normal serums and creams

Something like hada labo gokujun hyaluronic lotion

thisenglishlife · 15/09/2019 19:16

Some good moisturising products:
Superdrug B Essence
Clinique Moisture Surge spray
Decleor Mandarin night balm
Squalene based product
Pumpkin seed oil (Akoma is good)
Hyaluronic acid based serums such as Vichy or Indeed Labs

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 15/09/2019 19:26

Hada Labo is great. Huge bottles and lasts months.

Imonlymoominafterall · 15/09/2019 19:30

Have a look at Kate McIver Secret Weapon Serum - developed by Kate when she was going through chemotherapy and then marketed for use as a powerful skin repair serum. Beautiful stuff.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 15/09/2019 19:31

When my skin is super dry I apply astral at night it's amazing. So rosy and plump in the morning

AnOojamaflip · 15/09/2019 19:36

I use the Kinvara 24hr Rosehip serum (as mentioned above). I also use the kinvara moisturizer.

I'd recommend both.

Gastropod · 15/09/2019 19:36

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery concentrate. Basically an oil but it's all my skin has needed since I started using it. Lasts forever as well.

Clarins hydra essential- love it.

I like Nip & Fab Dragons Blood serum

According to my sister who is a GP and goes to dermatology conferences, the only thing that really moisturises skin deep down is colloidal oats. Other stuff just sits on top. Have you tried Aveeno or something similar?

TheCanterburyWhales · 16/09/2019 06:56

A serum isn't really going to moisturise. A hyaluronic (lots of suggestions above) will help (remember to put it on damp skin as otherwise it doesn't work)
Blue Nivea, Astral or Aveeno (I use the bogstandard colloidal cream, not the facial skincare) and an oil will be better.
Get the right kind of oil- you don't need to spend a fortune. Avocado is good, as is pure Argan (stinks a bit though) Rosehip is more for problem skin and very early ageing and isn't going to do much for dry skin. No oil is to be fair, but rosehip is often thought to be a holy grail and it isn't always.
