Help for job interview

I have a job interview next week. It's for a research administrator position (not sure what it means either... but it like a PR job but more scientific, dealing with scientists, but also money people, etc) and I'm not sure what to wear.... Don't have a suit. Have smart black trousers. Don't have any formal shoes to go with them, only boots. Have nice tops, but maybe more the sort I'd wear to go out.
Any suggestions? Didn't really want to go shopiing.... But will if I have to....

I'm 33 and a size 10.

I would not go for anything suggesting "casual-ware" or any statement jewellery.

Go for smart, polished, capable.

I conduct interviews a good few times a year. If a potential up for an interview in summer in boots it gives me the impression the candidate has not put much thought into their appearance nor has a high attention to detail.

Ok, I'm popping in to town now and see if I can get inspired.
Will look for a smart, good quality suit. Didn't want to spend the money, but it's an investment, right? I'll probably need it again for another interview and if I do get this job then I'll definitely need it again!
Thanks everyone

Good luck

Yes, it is an investment and knowing you look the part will make a huge difference to your confidence during the interview.

(plus I often wear a smart tailored jacket with jeans so you'll get more out of it then just 1 wear)

I once let a silent one go in an interview. I could tell by the looks they'd smelt it so I pretended to smell it too and then they gave each other sideways looks as if to try and suss out which of them dwelt it!

PMSL!

PMSL! I hope that's not advice rhubarb!
Well I'm back from town. Went to (in this order) FCUK, Hobbs, Jigsaw and M&S. Nothing in FCUK, in Hobbs there was nothing on sale so tried on some jackets from the new collection and they were amazing! such a great fit. Only a bit too expensive and too 50s looking. Then went to Jigsaw, still not on sale (wtf?) but tried a jacket on that was amazing, beautiful cut, beautiful fit, lovely looking material. Too bad it was so expensive (£160) but might think about investment and still go for it. Then went to M&S, not a lot in my size, but the few I tried on were so not nice comparing to the previous ones! They were really cheap, £35, but such a cheap material and bad cut. They looked really bad.... You do pay for quality don't you? Maybe Debenhams will be a nice in between price without compromising too much the quality?
Then bought some nice shoes in Kew. ....Have been looking for them but they're not on the website... They're wedge sandals, black with white stitching.

Shame about the M&S suits. I'd go for the Jigsaw one if you can possibly justify the expense, it will show and you will feel fabulous which will help you no end.
Might be some decent stuff in Debenhams though if not.

The Jigsaw one sounds good and their quality is always excellent.

The shoes sound nice (not for the interview though!)
