Skin break out/bumps

Recently my skin has gone haywire and I keep getting skin break outs. Mostly on my chin which I know can be hormonal.

I do not take any contraception.

But I’m now getting the kind of raised bumps under my skin that I can’t seem to get rid off! There’s no ‘head’ and there just tiny solid masses.

Can anyone give me any tips on what would help remove them?

Iv just bought ‘freedorm’ gel and been applying that.

Attached a picture so you can see what I mean as I’m not explaining myself very well!

Stop consuming dairy and I'm sure you'll see them go away. Drink lots of water.
You should also try an aha or salicylic acid.

I haven’t even thought about dairy! To be honest I consume a fair amount of it as well.

Iv tried a fair few products but nothing seems to shift them.

Il look into aha and SA.

Is this milia ?

Yoyoyo912 · 10/09/2019 17:13

I don’t think so. There’s no tiny white head. Iv had a couple of them around my eyes before

I have this already so I will start using this properly and cut the dairy right back!

Any other helpful suggestions are welcome.

Perhaps see your GP, it could be mild acne and a prescription product may help you more then something basic you can buy otc.

Be careful with that TO product, it’s quite potent and some areas of your skin look a bit inflamed already

I get similar, but on my cheeks. I think they are closed comedones.

I’ve found retinol really helpful (I actually managed to totally clear them with retinol, so I stopped it, and within a few months they were all back 🤦🏼‍♀️). I’m using the Dr Sam nightly serum, which has been really effective for me. Another option could be Differin, though you would need a prescription for that unless you go through the boots online acne clinic.

Unfortunately they seem to get worse before they get better (at least for me). They sort of come to the surface like a spot, and leave a red mark for a couple of weeks, but you have to push through that phase! If anyone knows how to get rid of them without them coming to the surface then I would be delighted!

Can you get retinol over the counter or online ?

@halloumi2019 - I was thinking of visiting the GP but I kind of feel like I’m wasting there time moaning about spots when people have real problems 🙈 I might have to though if some suggestions haven’t worked within a couple of months.

Retinol (and other gentler retinoids) are over the counter, you only need a prescription for the stronger retinoids like tretinoin or differin.

I get the same, big sore bumps under the skin. Tried loads of stuff.
Be careful if you buy salicylic acid. I got The Ordinary one and used too much, only to get a painful rash/burning.

The things I’ve bought recently upon recommendation: Balance Me congested skin serum £12 on Amazon) this is soothing and calming, doesn’t dry out the skin. It made a difference within days, but the bottle is TINY!

Also bought another product from Amazon which pretty much cleared my skin almost over night, but stinks! Can’t remember name of it, will check once I’m home.

For cleansing, Say Yes To Tomatoes charcoal cleansing/exfoliating stick is very good.

Thanks! Iv just ordered some!

@tigerbear - thanks... yes please let me know the name of the product you got from amazon and I will look up the other one now.

@Yoyoyo912 - the name is V55 Max Salicylic Acid Cream
It doesn’t seem as harsh as the Ordinary stuff, maybe because it’s in a cream format.
I’d recommend alternating this and the Balance Me serum each night, so as not to dry out the skin too much.
If you need to cover with foundation during the day, I’ve bought ELF acne fighting foundation this week, and it’s amazing!

Yoyoyo912 · 10/09/2019 23:49

@tigerbear - thanks! Iv ordered both creams.

So I have 3 things coming. Fingers crossed I can say in a month or 2 they have worked
