Do you alter your clothes? (Tips!)

So I'm a size to two sizes larger in the bottom half than on the top. Usually I wear t-shirts/tops but I do have an issue with clothes that fit around the shoulders & bust being too tight around the hips and riding up. Or I buy to fit my hips and it's too loose around shoulders.

I've just bought a merino wool t-shirt. It's long length (I need this as I've a long body and normal length legs!) so I can bike/carry a backpack without having a sore, bare back. It's too baggy around the top and I was wondering if I would try to take it in.
I've never don't this before.

I assume as the seams are stitched there's no reason I can't also sew it.

You could put in Fisheye darts very easily.

Put your dress on inside out. Put a pin at your bust level (left and right), pinch and let it fall. Put another pin vertically where it hits your hips. Start off the fabric and stitch a narrow , widening and then narrowing dart between the two pins. No structural alterations.
YouTube will explain it better.
I do the same at the back if necessary.

Thanks for this. I've got a brilliant dressmaker who I sometimes take things to but I'm wondering if there are a few top I can do myself. Always a huge help when you know what to look up!

Yes I agree. Thanks for telling me the name of what I need to look for!
