Accessorise ear piercing

Just wondering if anyone had had a piercing at accessorise and if they used a gun or a needle?

Been thinking about getting an upper cartilage one for ages and wasn't impressed with the local piercing parlour I had my ear lobes done at last year (realised when I got home I had odd earrings!) so thought I might give accessorise a try...

Any cartilage piercing should be done with a needle, I would be very surprised if they tried to use a gun. That's not definitive though, so probably not helpful!

I got my helix and conch done a few weeks ago by someone independent. Didn't know Accessorize did it

Hmm, thanks - I have read a really good review of my local shop but they didn't say if gun or needle. I had my first ear lobe ones done when I was 14 with a gun and it's taken til 39 to be brave enough to get any more!

God no! Avoid claire's. They're bloody butchers! Find a good piercing parlour, you'll be so much better off!

Ineedtoknowit · 03/09/2019 19:15

I don’t think anyone mentioned Claire’s though ...

FenellaMaxwell · 03/09/2019 19:17

Accessorize don’t do piercings - do you mean Claire’s?

Ineedtoknowit · 03/09/2019 19:17

Accessorize do actually do ear Piercing at selected shops

Haworthia · 03/09/2019 19:19

I bet they use guns. No way would they have a) a professional piercer and b) an autoclave (to sterilise equipment) in stores. It’ll be gun piercing.

dementedpixie · 03/09/2019 19:20

I imagine it will be with a gun as they are a similar store to Claire's

Ineedtoknowit · 03/09/2019 19:20

I imagined gun too but their website mentions that they do cartilage piercings as well as lobe. I’d be worried if they’re doing that with a gun but I agree I’d be surprised if they’ve got someone doing it with a needle in store

SellFridges · 03/09/2019 19:20

They use guns in the Birmingham one.

Drogosnextwife · 03/09/2019 19:22

None of the accessorize stores near me do piercings. Just find a good piercing studio.

Drogosnextwife · 03/09/2019 19:25

I got a cartilage piercing in clairs at about 15 years old and they used a gun. Luckily it was all fine. They shouldn't be allowed to use guns, I had no idea at the time.

dementedpixie · 03/09/2019 19:28

They give outdated advice about turning the piercing and give magical healing solution too!

MeltingSugs · 03/09/2019 19:29

As an aside, I found the helix piercing more painful than the conch but both were still ok. Less than two weeks ago they were done and they're a bit tender if I prod them but otherwise fine. I went to a local piercer with lots of good reviews and it was about £25 each for the conch and the helix.

commanderdalgleish · 03/09/2019 19:34

@FenellaMaxwell no Accessorize now do ear piercing. But I definitely don't want a gun piercing in cartilage! I am going in tomorrow anyway so I think I'll ask but the lack of info online makes me suspect it is a gun...

OP posts:
commanderdalgleish · 03/09/2019 19:39

@dementedpixie yes I saw that about turning the piercing too! I know not to do that though. But I suppose that might dictate to the overall professionalism... annoyingly the piercing place I had my second lobes done at was the one that everyone on my local Facebook group recommended and I felt quite let down by them. Will have to see if there's another piercing place in town I guess and read the reviews! Accessorize seemed like a no effort option seeing as I'm going there anyway tomorrow but it was jsut a spur of the moment thing so I think I'll give it a miss.

One of my relatives does all hers herself with a needle and another relative has all hers done at Maria Tash at Liberty (neither of which are an option for me!)

Ooh I finally found it on their website (for some reason I started with google not there!) and it is a gun...

I’d go to a proper piercing studio and definitely get it done with a needle! I had my first ear piercings done with a gun and the second with a needle. The needle piercing healed so much better and oozed a lot less. The gun piercings also ended up a bit uneven!

JCKit · 04/09/2019 06:34

My local piercing parlour used a needle for my cartilage piercing. It was fine. Aftercare is more difficult than earlobes though.

cheesenpickles · 04/09/2019 06:49

Personally, I'd go to a proper piercing place where the person doing it pierces day-in-day-out. They'll 100% use a needle as well. I'm sure accessorise will too but that's potentially just someone who pierces on occasion.

lisajeanforever · 04/05/2020 10:16

A bit late but I got my helix done in accessorise about a month ago now
and they did use a gun with a normal earring!

It wasn’t till after I spoke to a friend and read online that this isn’t advised!

The earring with a butterfly on the back builds up with bacteria and I had to swap the back for a silicone one! As it did get infected and a blood blister formed. I ordered a better proper bar for it as obviously the earring just falls out and because she pierced it with a normal earring, the proper bars are a little too thick! I’m quite annoyed actually thinking of writing a letter of complaint to HR x
