Are there such things as slippers that are stylish AND comfortable?

Miaou · 07/08/2007 20:59

I've got a pair of slippers that I wear all the time at home (so make that 95% of my life then ) which are really comfortable but so old grannyish that I am embarrassed to look at my feet

Since I spend so much time in my slippers I would really like my next pair to be attractive to the eye! But do they really exist?

Well this one really lit everyone's fire didn't it ...

Why not just get a pair of nice flip flops and where them only at home?

motherinferior · 07/08/2007 21:15

Not really madly, speaking as a fellow slipper wearer, but I do have a sparkly impractical pair (given by a friend) and am thinking of upgrading my Celtic Sheepskin ones for rather more frivolous pink CS ones.

Flip flops do not keep the feet warm. Not mine, anyway. I need warmth. Masses of it.

moondog · 07/08/2007 21:17

Socks then?
I have a pair of Crocs for the house that I dare not venture out in.

Miaou · 07/08/2007 21:20

I wear socks all the time. I live in the Far North, you know

Socks on their own are too cold - plus the floor of my utility room is often damp so I would get soggy socks (yeuch)

MI - in the back of my mind I had imagined something sort of sparkly and India Knight-ish (not that I know what she wears, just that she looks like the sort of person who would lounge around at home in sparkly/sequinned slippers)

Afraid I've got something like these, so am not in a position to advise.

moondog · 07/08/2007 21:22

Groovy Pruni!
Are those her legs or yours?

moondog · 07/08/2007 21:22

at Jackie

Miaou · 07/08/2007 21:24

Jackie they are better than mine - mine are bottle green velour (my mother bought them)

Quite like those Pruners, but I think my feet would get too hot in them (fussy, aren't I?)

Plumo have these, which are quite stylish, but not warm. Or how about silver clogs?

Miaou · 07/08/2007 21:27

I can honestly say moondog, hand on heart, that I would never wear a pair like that ever again ...

(see I have developed some sense of style over the years ...)

moondog · 07/08/2007 21:28

Phew!!

Miaou · 07/08/2007 21:32

Haha! Love the clogs but I think I would drive myself mad clunking about in those (plus ds1 runs about in bare feet all day - oooh, those little toes ...)

LOVE the ones in the first link though - I guess they might wear out quickly though

moondog · 07/08/2007 21:34

i used to wear clogs in the house.Made a right bloody racket though.

Mindles · 07/08/2007 21:35

I have these (third down on the left, zebra stripes) from Next, and they are a bargain!

JackieNo · 07/08/2007 21:37

Or Boden

Miaou · 07/08/2007 21:40

ooh I'm not classy enough for boden

these are quite nice but why do they make the soles so flimsy?? They're just for show!

MI's suggestion of Celtic Sheepskin ones might work? Certainly warm. They have various styles.
