Blonde Hair, Suggestions Please

So I have hereditary hair loss, my hair has gone really thin. I can see my scalp through it, and it's worse at the back. I'm going to be getting a wig really soon hopefully, but until then I think I'm going to colour my hair blonde so the scalp isn't as obvious.

I've added a pic of my hair colour now, does anyone have any suggestions of brands or shades? I've never coloured it myself before, I'm going to do it at home because I don't think it's worth paying the hairdresser price really, because my hair's so shit, I'm just worried about it turning orange. I'm looking for a soft shade, rather than harsh 'yellowy', if that makes sense Blush but don't know where to start.

Appreciate any advice :)

Sorry but don’t do it yourself. You run a very high risk of damaging your hair, so not only will you deal with it thinning but it may rapidly start to snap off too. Dying it blonde will do you no favours in maintaining what’s left of your hair at all.

What are you doing to do when your roots grow in, where the hair nearest to your scalp won’t be blonde anymore? It’s very high maintenance.

Also soft shades of blonde are the hardest to achieve

Don’t go blonde yourself. Go to a hairdresser.

Honestly don't do it yourself. Especially if your hair is thin. Have it done blonde at the hairdressers then you can do you roots/upkeep after that but for such a big colour change it's best left to the professionals

but it may rapidly start to snap off too

Thank you health, I didn't realise this was a possibility Blush Good job I posted.

Like I said, I'm clueless about all this and it sounded like a good idea in my head Grin

I don't think it's worth the risk; I'm not even sure it would make the scalp less obvious (thinking of men with thinning hair).

A good hairdresser might be able to help you make the most of what you've got.

My natural brunette hair is blonde now but my god, it’s so thin and damaged since lightening it. It just snaps off and falls out - and that’s with all the expensive treatments and expensive salon visits, not home colouring.

Your hair already looks warm, so it would turn ginger/orange. After that, it needs to be bleached further to actually get ashy blonde. It’s a massive process.

Watch ‘bleaching hair fail’ videos on YouTube to get an idea!

What about the fibre sprays in a colour close to your natural one? Your natural hair is a nice shade.

What about the fibre sprays in a colour close to your natural one?

I tried fibres Orchid, unfortunately they were either too dark or too light so it looked quite odd.

I'll stick it out until I can get the wig, I think. After the replies, it seems colouring it is too risky, and not worth it for the sake of waiting a couple of months.

Or I can pray for a freak snow storm so I won't look ridiculous going about in a big woolly hat Grin
