Thread vein removal

Has anyone had thread veins removed on their legs?

My thighs are covered in them. Most of the time they're hidden by my clothes but they do make me feel self conscious.

Anyone got experiences they can share? Pros/cons/cost?

Thanks.

I’d like to know about this too! My legs wouldn’t be too bad without them!

OllyBJolly · 01/09/2019 16:35

I had electrolysis. Painless, no bruising and they cleared up within weeks and never came back. Can't remember cost but it wouldn't have been much.

I had clusters on my thighs that looked like bruises.

I had laser treatment. Painful and didn’t work. I have them round my ankles and lower legs. I found a Revitive is working. I bought it for my husband but when I used it I can see my veins are disappearing. It must be due to the boost in circulation.

AgathaF · 02/09/2019 09:17

Olly I had no idea about electrolysis for thread veins. Thanks for sharing that.

Leapyearlover · 02/09/2019 09:20

Molly - can I ask how often you use it? I have one but haven't noticed any improvement. I asked about thread vein removal but was told if you have varicose veins they just come back! Has anyone had any luck with v veins?

OneNiceGreenLeaf · 02/09/2019 14:49

Thanks for the responses.

I've never heard of that @Mollypolly2610 so will look it up.

I use it every day I only used it because my husband used it and one day noticed that my thread veins were fading. I’ve not used it for long so am hoping for more results as it goes on.

I had sclerotherapy on my legs at my local private hospital's vein clinic. This involves injecting the veins with an irritant solution which should make them collapse and disappear. It didn't work and made them look worse in places though I was warned about this. Cost around £200 a session and I think I got it done twice before realising it wasn't working. I now cover up with Sally Hansen airbrush leg make up-amazing stuff!

Lamentations · 02/09/2019 19:25

I had sclerotherapy about 10 years ago, expensive and limited to the more obvious veins.

I'm just about to embark on my 2nd course of laser (because you get new ones over time). This is much better and very effective. I bought a course of 3 for £300 which I used over 2 years or so as new ones appeared. They treated everything that was there in each treatment leaving me completely clear. You have a patch test to help the therapist see how strong the laser needs to be.

It's like magic and well worth it if you can afford it. I realised too late that I needed another treatment this summer and it was horrible feeling self conscious in shorts again after a couple of years of shamelessly flashing my legs.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, really useful.

@Lamentations what type of laser treatment did you have? Was it IPL? I need to try this as my legs are awful!

Lamentations · 03/09/2019 17:13

Oh I'm not sure... I feel like that's a question a more sensible person might have asked.

Lamentations · 03/09/2019 17:17

www.skinhealthspa.com/thread-veins/

This was it.

Ridingthegravytrain · 03/09/2019 17:19

Anyone had their faces treated?

QueenoftheNowhereverse · 03/09/2019 20:46

I have, about five years ago. I spent about £1,000 and had seven sessions. It did reduce my veins but not to the point where I could go makeup free to work. I’ll manage general out and about grocery shopping with DH but still not enough. I scheduled it on Friday afternoons as the marks could be quite purple and not able to be covered by makeup immediately

JoeMaplin · 03/09/2019 22:44

I've just had my face done, laser and then something with a needle as there were some left after laser. The needle bit is not for the faint hearted and I've had a few weeks of scabs/redness- just starting to look normal again.

Ridingthegravytrain · 04/09/2019 11:35

£1000 😱

Mamaslave18 · 05/09/2019 14:58

I have had Sclerotherapy injections on the veins on my legs about 10 years ago. It worked well but was costly and couldn't get them all. I actually need to do it again as I have some more.

I tried laser treatment but it hurt too much so the clinic let me switch to injections.

SynchroSwimmer · 05/09/2019 22:42

I had treatment on my face, incredibly successful and inexpensive.

I would repeat it when needed without hesitation.
2 sessions, 1 per cheek.

The therapist said that it was one of the most rewarding treatments that she did, as the veins visibly disappear as the probe is switched on.

Can’t moisturise for about a week, have to let the treated areas dry and the small amounts of treated skin then fall off. (Timed for a quiet week with minimal social activity)

Overwhelmingly chuffed with the outcome - 4 years ago.

Don’t need to use foundation and get lots of positive comments on my (old!) skin

JuneSpoon · 05/09/2019 23:00

I got a treatment about 20 years ago and it did not work . Very disheartening. It would be great to try again, I'm sure treatments have improved since then!

Paperthin · 06/09/2019 00:00

@Lamentations following, but can I ask if you went to the Nantwich one? It’s not too far from me.

Lamentations · 06/09/2019 07:39

Paperthin no but I would imagine they have the same training and equipment. I'd definitely recommend them.

Lamentations · 06/09/2019 07:40

I'm going today actually, like a PP says it is a bit painful (bit like being stung by a wasp) so I'm apprehensive but it's always been totally worth it.

Oddgirlout · 06/09/2019 11:25

@SynchroSwimmer can I ask you what treatment you had? Thank you

Paperthin · 06/09/2019 14:20

@Lamentations thank you.
